Hey everyone!
I am considering volunteering for some months at the Center for Rural and Tribal Development, CTRD http://www.ctrdtrust.com, based in Gudalur and Pandalur taluks in Nilgiris, Tamil Nadu. I am an anthropologist with experience of working with tribal peoples as well as in some non-profits, albeit none in India, and I am looking to do somewhat qualified work, such as research, project assessment or planning and so on - if that matters to anyone's answer. CTRD are very welcoming and seem to give me both support and space to do what I want, but they are at the same time kind of vague when they answer questions about the organization. Thus, it would be great to hear what someone with first-hand experience of the organization has to say about it. Does anybody know it? Has anyone been there or worked for them? Thanks a bunch! |

Hi
I saw your other posts related to CTRD and wondered whether you ever did go and work with them? I live in the UK, but my next door neighbour used to do development work in India and is great mates with the director of this NGO. I am considering going there for ~6 months next year (ie from Feb 2010). I have a wife and a v young family (aged 1 and 3). My concern is that Ealamanna is really in the middle of nowhere and my wife and kids might get bored. Is that likely? How easy/difficult is it to get around? Thanks for all your help. Nick |
