I know it's a long shot, but does anyone know of concerns universe foundation, in the slum area of jeevanhalli in bangalore? the gap year company i-to-i regularly place volunteers in the organisation as english teachers. i was there for 2 months january - march, and would love to find someone who has been there since, as i want to know how my english class are getting on!!

Concerns Universe Foundation
Hi
I worked at the school for August and September 2003 and absolutely loved it...it's so weird to find someone who worked there! Are the three kids from the construction family still there (lived in the tents near the school, from two different fathers)? Do you have any digital photos? If you want info on the kids I have Chitra's email address... How are the other two ladies, I've forgotten their names but there was a young slim girl who spoke English and a really nice girl who lived next door to the school who didn't speak much English but who was really nice. Also, random I know, but is there still a collage poster on the wall of the small room where the older kids learn, and alphabet posters saying A is for apple etc? Really want to go back, miss those kids so much... Lizzy |

there were 2 construction families with children who passed through while i was there - yours seem to have moved on by the time i'd got there. i found the construction families the most heart breaking. the first set had 2 small babies, they completely broke my heart
![]() the two ladies are neethu (the one that lived down the road) and yashoda (the one who spoke good english). they were both well. neethu's english must have improved since you were there. i was helping her with it, as she was planning to apply to work in a new call centre, which was going to open last july. i don't know whether she got the job. while i was there, chitra was applying to i to i's helping hand foundation to ask for computers - they got 3 new ones at christmas. i only found out via the i to i website. i haven't been in contact with concerns. i don't know, i'd like to, but i kind of got the impression that they get so many volunteers passing through they wouldn't really appreciate. i don't know... what do you think? i miss the kids so much too! know i shouldn't have had favourites, but i absolutely adored saaduchien and anjuli. do you remember them? yes, the collage was still there, and being used in practically every lesson! was that your work? |
