I take it you've read the new book by Dominic Lappierre about the Bhophal disaster? If not that would be a good place to start I'm going to read it myself this trip!!
(sorry crap spelling but you know the guy he wrote Freedom At Midnight and City of Joy amongst others!)
Enjoy and let me know if it's a good read!!

hi-i am in bhopal, have been here for two and a half months. i have visited the sambhavna clinic, which is financed by the proceeds from lapierre's book. i hope to start working there (volunteer) after the beginning of the year 2004.

all you have to do is look on the web and you can find out about the disaster, and also there is a website for the clinic which was given to me by samsara on this site, if i remember rightly.

i will let you know what it is like after i have been working there. i will be involved in clerical work most likely, and when i was there i met a young man from uk who was working there with his wife for 7 weeks on pc stuff, not sure how long he will remain. also i met a lady who retired from teaching biology, but she is a paid staff member there now in charge of the documents.

Am I right in saying this issue has still not been resolved satifactorily (if it ever could be) and that Uniion Carbide have not been properly brought to book for what they did?

The head of Union Carbide at the time of the tragedy currently lives on Long Island, New York. Protestors occasionally gather outside his house.
