Art Teaching Volunteering
Hello everyone!
I would really like to find an art teaching volunteering position ideally in the South. I have worked as a kidswear designer for the past 5 years, but I am jacking it all in at the end of this month to take a break and embark on my new pathway! very exciting and slightly scary too.... I am arriving in India with a friend in October and we plan to travel together for 3 months but I'm keen to stay on longer and get involved in a volunteer position. I would be happy to commit 1/2/3 months of my time to the right project.I have a little teaching experience under my belt and I would love to share and learn new skills if anyone knows of anything. Fingers crossed! All the best - Lizzie x ![]() |

Hi Lizzie,
I too have decided to go to India some time at the end of the year for six months and would also like to find out about some volunteering opportunites, preferably in art teaching for a few weeks or months. I have done an arts degree but am not currently using it to its full potential in the UK and so am making a break for India for some time out and re-ssessment so to speak!! I plan to be based in Goa, so south India is my preference also at the start, so at the mo I am researching into potential places! Did you have any luck? At the end of the trip I will probably go up north so may also look into opportuntities there... Cant wait to go! Let me know if you had any joy or good advice... Best, Jenny |

Lizzie,
You can try at Auroville in Pondicherry. There are many schools there and if available, you can do some 'House-Sitting' so that would also solve your accomodation problems. There are many people who would want someone to take care of their house while they are away... if not, you could always find some accomodation there. Try their link : www.auroville.org Best of Luck. |

volunteering
Hi all,
My name is Shareen and I am situated in Bangalore. I am volunteering for an NGO called Dream a Dream. I go into different schools and help out the Art teachers by doing drawing, painting etc. It's only a few hours in the afternoon but I find this very rewarding. The children love having me there and they all call me Aunty! Check them out, they are a great bunch of people. www.dreamadream.org Also I had contact with another organisation in Goa called Children Walking Tall. They have no spaces left but if you are in Goa they are happy for you to visit. www.childrenwalkingtall.org Hope this helps a little, Take care, Shareen |
