| Whenever I visit Banaras, I buy the famous Banaras silk sarees and the little glass statues of deities which I pick up from the lanes leading to Vishwanath Temple... |

| On the Road, wherever I am | GREAT place for brassware up Vishwanath Lane . . . maybe halfway to the temple, on the left, kind of a indent in the narrow lane, there are several brass places there with very nice pieces. Some good sandalwood pieces also to be found along Vishwanath Lane.

| Hi all, As mentioned there are things to buy in Varanasi.. Are there any workshops or places that could be visited where there is an opportunity to see people making these products? Thanks Andy ![]() |

| On the Road, wherever I am | Andy, silk weaving can be fairly easily seen, watched, filmed. Though there must be many places in the city, I lived in the Asi Ghat area and found lots of places off the main road from Asi to Dasashawamedh Ghat, closer to Asi than the main ghat. |
