There won't be any direct bus. You'll need to change buses every 500 km or so.

Horror trip, esp. in summer. I took a short bus ride Varanasi - Lucknow this time of year - 45 degrees and dusty.

Train is much better for all sorts of reasons - a bunk to begin with, toilets, the opportunity to move around, tea and coffee, water and snack vendors.

I totally agree with Brisso. I did a short trip from Jaipur to Agra, bloody nightmare.
The train is infinitely better, apart from not having your spine smashed through your skull on the roads, it's REALLY hot and dusty that time of year.
It's the same price as the bus, and you get snacks.

A bit of a theme here i reckon, is it just me, or are most people against the idea.?

Well it will take a hell lot of time.

first you have to reach Lucknow from Varanasi. The Bus will take around 6 hrs. From Lucknow you will get direct bus to Jaipur & it will take around 13-14 hrs to reach Jaipur.
Comfortable option. AC bus from Varansi to Lucknow. Change again in a AC Bus to Agra & from there change again to an AC bus for Jaipur.
