varanasi is an absolute highlight of everything indian on this planet, all the best and worst and loved and hated about india. i still have its smell in my nose and i feel like it will never leave me.

i was silly enough not to buy a CD with the music they perform at the evening puja at the main (dassasw....) ghat. can it be downloaded somewhere from the net? i'll pay them next time i'm there (on my next india trip).

I think Varanasi is where the Indian people are being their most Indian selves -- that's what I like best about it.

If I were to go back, well, I recall a chai shop on the path that the deceased persons are carried to Manikarnika Ghat; it's an interesting place to sit, watch the families pass by, and contemplate our own mortality.

The river, the river

For me Varanasi was about The River, what it represents, whats in it, what people do in it, how their lives revolve around it, the ghats---I'm still in awe about Mother Ganges!!

varansai for me is (i)sitting on the ghats just watching people and the river and (ii)occasionally visiting Kashi Viswanath temple and praying to Lord Shiva

Varanasi is definatley the place I am most exited about visiting on our trip, It's sounds magical yet delirious at the same time.

I can't wait to sit an ponder life for a few hours, it's rare that we can actually sit and relax and empty our minds.

I don't think I will want to leave !
