Mantru,
I would suggest to take the 2 AM train. Around 5 reach the ghats and spend your time there. You will find many recommendations to eat and spend time there... Gowdolia, the place near Dasaswamedh Ghat, is a good market for sarees. |

still catching up.
G'day, 26 January is India National Day. A big day in India, and a cause for even more celebration than normal.
A lot of places are closed, but the air of festivity is palpable. This may help you plan bit more?. Hope this helps, adam x x

IŽll be visiting India in January, and in particular Varanasi, which is where my grandfather hails from. He came from a village called "Rungowly" in Benares, as it was then known. However, IŽve searched high and low but canŽt find a village of that name in Varanasi. It could be that it now has a new name. Can anybody help ?
