Varanasi: Boatmen on strike
Just to let you know i'm in Varanasi at the moment and the boatmen are on strike so it isn't possible to take a boat ride on the Ganges. They all seem to be using the time to paint and repair boats.

Strike ended yesterday afternoon, the boats are back on the river!

I wonder what would happen if you took one of those portable kayaks with you to Varanasi....probably wouldn't be pretty.....
