Varanasi- August-weather
Hiya- just wondering about the weather. I'm due to go to varanasi in mid August and with regards to the monsoon, is te sky very cloudy and overcast or are there sunny spells when the sun shines through? Also- any ideas on travelling from Varanasi to Hampi (possibly via mandu)? Any help is much appreciated!

Ah, the weather . . . August is still monsoon, typically still a very good chance of rain and associated clouds. There will most likely be periods of sun/clouds/sun, perhaps even a few days of just clouds/just rain. The future is hard to know

But it can be bloody humid and between July and Oct this is the biggest problem.

yatradarshan - Humidity indeed!
Unlike heat, unlike rain, you can't hide from the humidity. Everywhere you go, there it is. Many guesthouses have generators now to power electrical/AC but I preferred to sweat (and during my monsoon stay in Varanasi I had a thin layer of sweat on me 24/7 for five months. I also spent a month of that time (thanks to my girlfriend) in an AC room. To be honest, I was OK with the sweat
Rain or not, it'll be moist
Safe travels

Safe travels If only it would rain and rain and use up all that moisture. Wonder why it never rains enough in Varanasi ?

yatradarshan - I remember the rain being a mixed blessing. At first - with the thunder and lightning - I thought "Cool!" Was excited as the rain fell. Then, the rain sat in the street, sun came out, POOF! Steam rising off the street . . . into the air . . . more rain . . .
So, how is it now ?
