Small villages near Varanasi

Hi!

i am looking forward to spending 4 full days in Varanasi in March. But just in case, if the hustle and bustle of Varanasi gets too much - can anyone recommend me some smaller sites & villages nearby Varanasi. I'm planning to go to Sarnath, but maybe there is something else?

Thanks a lot!

Katriin,

Jaunpur is a very interesting "Off the beaten trails" muslim city 60 km north of Varanasi. You can go there by bus (30 rupees) from the bus stand beside the Railways Station. Unfortunately the tourist don't go there, probably because they don't know about it. You can visit several beautiful mosques and a very special bridge as well as a huge Fort.
