It was a decent place. Nothing fancy, but the prices reflect what you'll get. The management is friendly enough if not a little too hands off. Food is fine. Has a rooftop to see the ghat. There is a windowed area on the main floor that looks out on the river where you can have breakfast or whatever and chat with other travelers. The rooms are also acceptable. Reasonably clean and not too noisy. Some rooms had some problems with power and water but the staff seemed to be very aware of the situation and made an effort to put people in the best rooms available. It has a little shelf with lots of interesting books you can borrow or trade for. There is a phone/textile shop/travel agent/cyber cafe all in one just on the main road which is run by a very nice fellow. Next too it is a pretty cool toy shop with what seems like an endless number of connecting rooms going back into the building. Overall we found it to be an acceptable budget place. We also really enjoyed our stay in the city. When we checked out the manager gave us some small gifts ![]()

It's 900 R's. Thanjks Alex for the informatioin. Sounds pretty good. When I called, he said my room had a balacony and view of the ghat...I forgot to make sure it had AC. I think the book said the upper rooms had views.
Will report back when I return for sure! |

Hi Elsie. I love the Ganges View but it is fully booked for October. Did you stay at the Sahi Guest house and if so how was it? Sue

Hi I have stayed at the Sahi Guest House. It is a very clean budget/medium type of accommodation. The rooms range from about 900 rupees down to 250 depending on what you want. With the more expensive rooms having the view and the balcony. There are home cooked meals there and the young men that work there sleep on the premises near the front door, so it is also secure at night. There were some problems with the air con and hot water sometimes, but given that I was in a great location and for the prices i was paying, it wasn't too big a problem. The little travel place/internet and phone place on the main street near the guest house has some very helpful people in there and there is also a great bookshop nearby. The guest house is run by Mr Sahi who is fluent in English.

I second alext's comments, above, about the "pretty cool toy shop"!

hi, I didn't end up staying there. we stayed at the haifa hotel around the corner, which has a great restaurant. rooms were good. wasn't so keen on it at first and went to see if sahi had any rooms available.
walked up the stairs to the sahi guest house, I liked the atmosphere, pretty home-style and funky, the man was nice, but no rooms available. didn't get to see one so I don't know. ended up being pretty happy with haifa-my first time and first stop in India, so I was digging having a good restaurant right downstairs. good luck! |
