Rashmi Guest House Varanasi - Pre-payment I have seen several topics on a number of sites regarding the fact that Rashmi GH ask for full payment via transfer to secure a booking. I have just been asked to do the same by them and am wondering if any one has done this and if so, what was your experience. Was the booking upheld on arrival? Most people are advising me not to pre-pay and although I would rather give credit card details as a guarantee, this does not appear to be an option. I would like a good quality central hotel booked before my arrival which is late at night and my travel companion is a little older in years and not up to walking door to door in search of a place to stay. Any advice appreciated.

varanasi hotel i'll advice you to look for hotel in assi gath, where there is accsess to the car. aiaf you book hotel Rashmi, ask for river face room. we staied there 2 months ago, the hotel is in a very good location, and it is realy nice. The rooms are very small and if you are not facing the river you miss wondeful sun rise , just from the bed. Roni

Kat, Rashmi Guest House is in my opinion quite expensive for the rooms the have. A Deluxe river view is 2500 and Superdeluxe 4200 plus taxes. Also the Dolphin's Restaurant is very expensive and the food not very good. The only thing for the restaruranyt is the location in the roof-top and that they serve beer(not allowed in the old part of the city). Last November 2006 I've been in Scindhia Guest House in Scindhia Ghat beside Manikarnika Ghat (most famous burning ghat) a nice room with terrace, bath and AC, facing the river for 600 Rs. The have a web page and you can make the reservation online. http://www.scindhiaguesthouse.com Don't worry about the age, I'm 59 years old and still can move easily in Varanasi. Have a look at the view from my room. Jorge
