looking for a retreat center to rent!!!

namaste, my name is sarah, can anyone please advise me, as i am doing this a bit opposite and bringing my yoga teacher TO india. we are looking for a small retreat center or a guest house in varanasi that we can rent for a few days around about the 20th of january 2008. there will most likely be up to ten of us, looking forward to practicing in the best environment possible. i appreciate any and all advice, as doing this remotely is much more challenging.

Probably not that easy to find since end-January is the busy time in tourist places in India, plus you want the best situation possible

Why should it be Varanasi? Have you been there?

If doing it in an improvised way is possible for you (if you are not selling it expensively to your participants), you could do it like this:

You could just go ahead, book rooms in any hotel to your liking and then arrange for yoga sessions on a rooftop overlooking the Ganga, under a tent-roof, easy to rent, because locals have their ceremonies under such covers.

A second option is this:
I could give you the address of a person probably willing to help, except that he would most likely be trying to "sell" his guest house to you, if not yet fully booked for that time. It is a bit behind Dashashvamedha-Ghat, near Luxa road.

Indian business people will do anything for money, so if you offer to pay him he might be of help even outside his property concerns.

Thank you soooo much for your kind reply. I realize that this may not be easy, although i am open to the possibility that it still could be. I have contacted two guesthouses and am awaiting their reply. Yes i would appreciate having the contact e-mail for anyone on the ground in varanasi who may be able to locate such a space. We are looking for appx. ten rooms checking in on the 17th of January 2008, and checking out on the 23rd of January 2008. We are willing to pay US$20 per room per night, making it a total of $1200 for the entire stay, but we would very much like to find a guesthouse that has a practice space within. I am familiar with indian business people, and ofcourse we are happy to compensate those who help us make this possible. This retreat is really a gift to our teacher, we are not overcharging the students, quite the opposite for a change.
