Holi - Any suggestions?

After reading a bit on the mayhem of Holi (11 March), I've got a couple of questions :

Anyone else in town for Holi?
Any suggestions as to a good guesthouse to view the festivities
(perhaps one that serves beer)?
What are the chances of paint still being thrown around on the 12th?

I watched it from the roof of the Haifa Hotel, near Asi Ghat, in 2006. But I think this was done as a service for those of us staying across the street at the Tiwari Lodge, rather than an anyone-can-come-for-Holi thing. Before that we had our own celebration on the roof of the Shanti, just the family who runs it and it's guests. It happened to rain that day and our gutters flowed with colored dye. I don't remember Holi lasting much beyond the day itself, though there was some buildup a day or two before.
