i certainly dont mean to run down this particular ngo, who may be doing great work.

however, with personal experience of ngos in general, and varanasi ngos in particular, i can say a few things

-one, many Indian NGOs are a minefield with many unscrupulous operators.
-two, Uttar Pradesh in general, and Eastern Uttar Pradesh in particular (of which varanasi/benaras is a part), is riddled with NGOs which are family run businesses.
worse, fiefdoms.


i dont give my time or money to any ngo of which i dont have a detailed knowledge. my cynical suggestion to anybody would be to check things out thoroughly before doing so.

that said, if this is one of the exceptions, i hope it flourishes.

Capt, well said . UP is indeed a minefield.

This particular organization is doing excellent work. But yes, do visit it , check on it !
