best place to view July 22 solar eclipse
Hi there,
I'll be in Varanasi on July 22 for the longest solar eclipse this century. Anyone else planning on viewing it? What's the best place? Thanks! Bidisha |

I'd stake my claim by the river. I imagine it'll be crowded for the eclipse. The southern end of the city, in the Asi Ghat area/where I've lived for a year over two trips, would be my choice.

best place to view July 22 solar eclipse
Hello I hope I'm not bursting your bubble but just thought you should know that although this is technically the longest eclipse of our century that is only if you go to Japan where the length of totality is at it's peak of 6 minutes 39 seconds .... in varanasi it is supposed to be 2 minutes and ?? seconds. Japan will be amazing - but I'm in india and am really looking forward to my first trip to Varanasi especially to see it!
I have found a guest house in Assi ghat which is supposed to be a bit quieter than the other ghats - I am travelling with my little toddler so the crowds the better really. I've been wondering about the special glasses though - I wonder if there will be some available?! Happy Travels! |
