Valentine's cottages at chaukori

I read the review given by dilliwallah in one of the threads. I would be in chaukori from 29th dec. to the 1st. So would you guys rate this above the KMVN? Most importantly do they have good heating facility? And what about the food?
It would be the peak season so shuld i pre book?

Also i would like to know if it's comfortable at the KMVN binsar in winter? Are roads blocked dut to snowfall- our travel dates are 29 dec to 5th Jan.
Is there any other alternative to kmvn in binsar with the SAME view? What are the rates at binsar retreat?

Accessing KMVN Binsar should not be a problem. If there is heavy snowfall, KMVN is cut-off for a day or two, but that normally occurs in February. I do not think there is any alternative for KMVN having the same view. In some threads I have read that Binsar Retreat also has good views, but since I have not stayed there, I cannot comment on it.
Binsar Retreat tariffs are given at their site, but it is better to call and do some bargaining.

KMVN Chaukori is the best you can get. Valentine's cottage stand no where in comparison to KMVN. I don't think there is a need to pre book. I was in chaukori on 28th Sep and 29th Sep ang managed to get the cottage without reservation.

I stayed there at KMVN from 20th Dec to 22nd dec 2007. 1st I suggest u to pre-book obviously. that period will be high time and really KMVN is the best place in Chowkoree. Valentines cottage is not at all comparable.

Big room heaters are there in all the cottages and rooms of kmvn. best possible food are available there.

Here is the view from the Valentine cottege, very good I would say... Same or Better than KMVN, not worse for sure...

In fact, any where near the KMVN in Chaukori would offer the same views, it's a small area you see

The room was actually good, but the Toilets/Water supply was an issue... But it was under construction when we went in Apr '09. One section was built and we stayed there... Might have improved now...
