Urgent Help Required For Uttaranchal Trip

Hi,

I am planning for a trip to AULI,KAUSANI,RANIKHET,ALMORA,N AINITAL,CORBETT,MUSSORIE,DEHRA DUN in the 1st week of December 2009 or may be 1st week of January 2010.

I am from Ahmedabad, Gujarat and planning to reach haridwar by train from Ahmedabad itself to start the trip covering above mentioned destinations. We as a couple are planning to travel.

Could you guys suggest me as how to go about the entire tour in 10 days (Maximum 12 Days).

Please help me in preparing a root chart, First I want to reach AULI ,in AULI I will be staying at CLIFF TOP CLUB for 3 nights. After that I want to cover remaining destinations.

Which will be the less time consuming and cheaper root out of this 2 which are mentioned below (Below route is prepared by me & your valuable suggestions required at must to DO EDITION/DELETION in it).

1)AHMEDABAD - HARIDWAR - JOSHIMATH -AULI - KAUSANI - RANIKHET - ALMORA - NAINITAL - CORBETT - MUSOORIE - DEHRADUN - HARIDWAR - AHMEDABAD

2)AHMEDABAD - DELHI - HARIDWAR - JOSHIMATH -AULI - KAUSANI - RANIKHET - ALMORA - NAINITAL - CORBETT - MUSOORIE - DEHRADUN - DELHI - AHMEDABAD

My Questions:

*If possible can I get the TAXI and BUS fares along with timings for each trip starting from HARIDWAR.
*Please tell me the feasibility of the above plan.
*I would like to know the distance of each places as per my plan.
*Please suggest some good budget hotels for stay in Nainital,Ranikhet,Kasauni,Almo ra and Musoorie and their Tariffs.
*Also the mode of communication? I mean how to travel from one place to another and for sightseeing also.
*Also I would like to know the frequency of bus service (if possible with schedule)from one place to another (Especially from HARIDWAR to JOSHIMATH).

JOSHIMATH to AULI
AULI to KAUSANI
KAUSANI to RANIKHET
RANIKHET to ALMORA
ALMORA to NAINITAL
NAINITAL to CORBET
CORBET to MUSOORIE-DEHRADUN

We would not prefer to have a night hold at RANIKHET,ALMORA and probably DEHRADUN also if it is not necessary.

Kindly suggest me as to cover the places in what sequence.(to catch up with AULI first) It's my humble request you to all to please revert to my query at the earliest as I have to book tickets and have to plan accordingly.

Shezi, we just got back to Ahmeabad from a trip that covered Joshimath. Hope this info is useful to you:

-Did Ashram Exp to Delhi and took Jan Shatabdi to Dehradun from where we started our trip to Valley of Flowers & Badri. You can get off Haridwar. We thought Haridwat mail is too slow - takes 27 hrs to Haridwar. By taking Ashram we got a nice break of 5 hrs in Delhi during which we hopped to Redfort for a quick visit.

-GMVN owned Rahi Motel is a good place to stay at Haridwar. Away from the melee and close to Rly station & Bus Station, it offers good air cooled and air conned rooms. We paid 530 for a air cooled room 2 days ago but now is off season. Number: 0133 4228686.

-Sumo Taxi owners association is bang opp. Bus Station. You can walk up and book a cab. Sorry, don't know prices. GMOU run regular (1 in 30 mins) mini bus services from Haridwar - they are as fast or just a little slower than Sumos but then you can't be too fast on NH-58. Haridwar - Joshimath is a 10 to 11 hr drive so it is advisable to leave atleast by the 6 am bus to reach Joshimath by the evening.

-I understand Birla Guest House at Joshimath and GMVN are great places to stay at Joshimath.

Moreover can you please let me know that at what time i will be reaching haridwar if i go through the root suggested by you (if i go with Jan Shatabdi)and what are the timings of buses going to joshimath from haridwar?
Is there any option in which i can reach to joshimath before 4pm as the cable car from joshimath to auli operates till 4pm only,i do not want to have a night hold at joshimath.

If i can reach haridwar in noon or late evening,will i be able to leave for joshimath by 7 to 8 pm? so i can reach joshimath by early morning and can pick the earliest cable car available to reach AULI.

If you are coming by Jan Shatabdi then, from Haridwar take a bus to Rishikesh and stay there for night. Early morning take the Shared Jeep/Bus and you'll reach Joshimath well in time to catch the Cable car trip to Auli.

But Now a days, A lot of construction is taking place, so you may find place as you night be thinking.

No ! Night driving prohibited in Hills.

I will be leaving for mussoorie right after reaching haridwar from delhi by a train which get me to Haridwar by 12.00 pm (Please suggest me the train from Delhi to Hardiwar through which i can reach reach on or before 2 pm, so i can reach mussorie before sunset.)

Day-1-Ahmedabad to Delhi.
Day-2-Delhi to Haridwar.
Day-2-Haridwar to Mussoorie (Night Hault).
Day-3-Mussoorie sight seen then return back to haridwar at night and will pick the bus at 03.30 a.m.
Day-4-Haridwar to Joshimath.Joshimath to auli (Night Hault).
Day-5-Auli.
Day-6-Auli.
Day-7-Auli to Joshimath,Joshimath to Valley of Flowers then by road Kausani (Please give me the details of transportation from Joshimath to Kausani with distance).
Day-8-Night stay at Kausani.
Day-9-Kausani to Nainital via Ranikhet(Sightseen), Almora (Sightseen)Night stay at Nainital .
Day-10-Nainital .
Day-11-Nainital to Corbett then if possible to Kathgodam Railway Station (Subject to availibility of transportation to Kathgodam from Corbett and Train to Delhi from Kathghodam Railway Station on same day or night itself.)Please suggest me on this.
Day-12-Delhi to Ahmedabad by Train
Day-13-Ahmedabad

Please tell me the feasibility of the above plan.

No need to travel to Hardidwar. Take any train from Delhi to Saharanpur. Just outside Saharanpur Rly Stn. you'll get buses to Dehradun. From Dehradun take another bus to Mussorie. You'll save atleast 2 hours....

Day 7 is impossible.

From Joshimtah to Kausani is very tough journey ! You'll haver to change local buses many times. Else take a taxi.

Corbett will open in October, I hope you are travelling after that only. Many taxi drivers offer Nainital - Corbett - Kathgodam trip.

Do a search at TA Utarakhand forum. You'll get answer to many queries there.

I am planning to visit Nainital from 19th to 23rd August...I had planned for Binsar initially but have zeroed in on Nainital..so I humbly request you to reply as fast as possible.

Best place to stay on a budget of max 1500-2000/ night? I am looking for a place with a decent view of the lake...and if possible oldish..(my fav. place to stay being Morgan House in Kalimpong...people who have been there will know what I am talking about..)

Places to hang out and make merry in the evenings..?

Places to explore out when the sun is still in the horizon...treks?

You may stay at Hotel Alka, right on the lake front.... but certainly not heritage... Palace Beledere is a heritage place, may be little expensive, but you can check for off season discount.

Manu Maharani has a Disco but will be empty in off season.

If you can suggest me the best and most convenient changes in my trip route in the same format which I am again posting you for your convenience, you are further requested to do some edition or deletion if required by using your astounding knowledge by keeping my below route in mind.

As informed by you Day 7 is impossible then what kind of change's to be done after returning to Joshimath in order to make the further trip more convenient and cheaper and less time consuming.

Also if you can you please give me the budget Hotel names and contact numbers of Mussoorie,Kausani and Nainital. My maximum budget is 700 to 900 rs per night.

Kindly re-look at my trip route once again and do suggest me the changes to be done. In short i am requesting you to be my trip planner and make my trip memorable.
