Trip to Nainital

Hi There

I want to go to Nainital and surroundings during mid December.

My current itinerary is as follows: -

Day 1 - Arrive from Delhi to Kathgodam. Hire a cab and go to Mukhteshwar.
Day 2 - Mukhteshwar to Binsar with night halt at Binsar
Day 3 - Stay at Binsar
Day 4 - Binsar to Kausani
Day 5- Kausani
Day 6 - Kausani to Nainital via Ranikhet
Day 7 - Stay at Nainital
Day 8 - Back to Delhi

I am planning to travel around December 18th/19th.

Need advice on the following: -

1. Is this the right time to travel to Nainital? WHat are the chances of getting stuck due to snow in any of the places that I want to visit?
2. Is the itinerary a workable one? (All suggestions for improvement are welcome)
3. Any suggestions on places to stay? How good/bad is the KMVN accommodation?
4. Any idea on taxi rates or where bookings can be done from?

TIA

What is the price range of the accommodations you are looking for?

In December 2007, when I went there, there was no snow in Nainital or Khrupatal at all.

Thanks Mridula.

We (two of us) are trying to see if we can manage the trip from Delhi and back within a budget of 30K. Does this look poss?

30K seems to be a good amount of money but then we mostly travel budget and by public transport. If you do not wish to hire taxi to go everywhere, to me it seems possible.

2. Is the itinerary a workable one? (All suggestions for improvement are welcome)Is fine though I prefer Jageshwar to Kausani , but it is personal choice
3. Any suggestions on places to stay? How good/bad is the KMVN accommodation?Binsar go for KMVN, mukteshwar KmVN or Sitla estate, Nainital - multiple options, in that season you can get some bargains
4. Any idea on taxi rates or where bookings can be done from?well you can get them at Kathgodam station, in that season you can get a good bargain, I suggest you book him for the entire trip else in most places you will have to pay for return trips, as for rates these should be around 5.5/6 Rs per km for Alto/Indica (non AC)

TIA
