Trip to gangotri-yamunotri-badrinathji-kedarnathji in 10 days

Hi All,

I am planning a trip to the char dhams with my parents .
I am looking a trip itirenary from haridwar-gangotri-yamunotri-badrinathji-kedarnathji-haridwar in 10 days .

I am planning to reach Haridwar on 25 may and want to come back on 3 june 2009.

I have extensively searched the existing threads but was unable to find one fitting my requirements. I also tried some tour packages but they are expensive.
i wanted to know that which is the better option.
1)Hire a taxi from haridwar and take care of stays on my own
2)book a tour from haridwar

I personally want to go with the first option but i dun know abt the rates of the taxis abd the availability of the hotels and the overall expenditure.

Please provide me with a suitable and a detailed itirenary.

Dear taveller_41, Welcoem to IM.

With a taxi you can do the chardham tour in 10 days. All taxis in Haridwar/Rishkesh do it in 9-10 days. Rates are Rs. 1800-2000 per day for Indica.

You can book hotels as you go.

thanks for the reply.

i had seen your earlier thread in which you had given the itirenary for rishikesh-badrinath -kedar nath .i had made my plan according to it .it was realy nice.

but now i have to cover all the 4 dhams

can u please come up with a nice itirenary for 10 days with night halts and all the places worth seeing..

One more thing i surfed the gmvl site the tour packages are expensive as they are charging 10-12 thousand for one adult (using 2by 2 bus).

I hope doing a taxi and going on my own is a better option .
Please help me with any taxi driver numbers if you have any and also
the places where i should stay.i am loking for some cheap and good accomodation.

I have read on IM itself about some skylark tours, I haven't used them. You may search forums.

Entire yatra route is dotted with small hotels, normal range is Rs. 300-500.....

GMVN places are good and are in the higher range, although they have cheap dormitories too !

I booked one car from Amba international for visit to Pauri in 2003 . Their office is near Vishnu Ghat. You can contact them .
They are very cordial and helpful .

All the travel agents in Haridwar/Rishikesh offer taxis for Yatra. Keep the benchmark price of Rs. 1800 per day and negotiate for a better deal.

I hope I am not Hijacking this thread, but I also plan to do this stretch with my parents. But it will be ex Delhi and Hardwar might or might not be on list. Char Dham for sure.

My first concern is my Mom's mobility. She has knee problems and walking for long duration is a problem. Now when we say Char dhams, what are the options I have, I mean till where car can go and where are palkis available ?

In Badrinath and Gangotri cars go right upto the towns.

For Kedarnath, Palkis are available from Gaurikund which is the base camp. For Yamunotri Palkis start from Janki Chatti.

I wanted to enquire that whether you have opted for a tour package or a oyu intend to go on your own.i havent made any reservations until now and i plan to first goto haridwar and from there i am planning to book the cab and other things.

would it be the right thing to do .

This is part of advanced planning for next year - any idea how much would a Tempo Traveller (9-10 people) cost per day for this trip, if we take one from Haridwar/Rishikesh?
