Travelling to Char Dham + Gaumukh + VOF + Hemkund Sahib
We are scheduled to travel from 7th September 2012 for Char Dham + Gaumukh + VOF + Henkund Sahib.
Over the last few days, we have been reading about the natural calamity that has befallen Uttarkashi and few other places in Uttarakhand.
From experience, can someone advise if the road & power infrastructure will be restored in less than 30-days or we should call-off the trip?
Regards

according to your itinerary, only Gaumukh (Gangotri) may be a problem.................but I think the main road (Uttarkashi to Gangotri) will be restored or accessible within 7th Sept .

I think, road connectivity will be restored by then. Badri, VoF, Hemkund is definitely yes. Gangotri/Gaumukh may take some time. Do not cancel the trip right away. Wait till Aug end. If road connectivity is restored then proceed otherwise its obvious. Power should not be a problem. Gaumukh, VOF and Hemkund, anyways, does not have any grid power. so does not matter much.
September is a superb time to visit these places especially Gaumukh/Tapovan and VoF.
Gangotri Gomukh during Mid Oct 2012
We are planning to trek from Gangotri to Tapovan during Mid Oct 2012. Will it be safe that time?
What about the forest permissions? Any idea?
