I've been Uttarkashi-Lambgaon and Gadoliya-Tilwara but not in between. mosederbaer covered Uttarkashi-Tilwara recently so is in a better position to answer. Tilwara to Gauri Kund is 66 km.

Ok. I've crossed Tilwara many times while travelling to Gaurikund via Rudraprayag, but wanted to know this route.

Dhurubtara, We did Uttarkashi-Tilwada-Chopta and distance covered was 237 km. So the distance to Gaurikund should be more or less the same.
If it's true that we are here to help others, then, what exactly are the others here for?

Dhurbtara, surely this route can be done in Chardham yatra. The road condition is almost good leaving some bad parts here and there. Specially the first 28 km from Uttarkashi to Chaurangi khal and the last 38 km from Ghansali to Tilwada were just perfect.

It would be advisable if you make Dehradun as your base and take a rental car. Once you have rented a car with driver, You could make day trips to Chakrata ,Mussoorie,Dhanaulti, Chamba,Dev Prayag, Tehri, Asan Bird Sanctuary, Dakpatthar, Various tibetan settlements. These places are worth exploring if you have never been there earlier. If you are more interested in hiking in high mountains, you could rest for a day in dehradun/rishikesh and then move on to either yamunotri highway or Badrinath highway. Do your bookings in advance as finding a reasonable accomodation may not be very easy in peak season. However, you will always find some shelter in every single town pparticularly on your way to Badrinath.

Thee is always the possibility of Tatkal booking, but you should check also check for availability on the ANVT-KGM train (if you haven't already). Other than that, there are also a/c deluxe buses from Delhi Anand Vihar to Haldwani a few times a day. Generally no problem to get seats if you are there 1 hour in advance.

You can then hire a car for the hill section. See the Car Rental in Kumaon thread for contact details.

What is the means of travel you will be opting for? By car or by train till Kathgodam - In case you opt for later, you loose two days straight away - so in six days remaining, you can visit - Binsar - Kausani - Chaukori - Almora - Ranikhet - Munshiyari will be difficult.

We are not going to Kathgodam. Our journey Starts from Lalkaun on 22/12/2012and ends at Lalkaun only on 29/12/2012. What should be the route so that we can cover most of the places and it wont be hectic? We wanna enjoy most beautiful places and (snow if possible). we will be hiring a cab for the whole tour, so communication wont be a problem.
Can you please suggest which are the place we need to have night stay or not.

Seeking a quick suggestion.

thanks in advance.

You will have to drop Munsiyari, or Ranikhet and Kausani to be comfortable in this trip. It is always better to put a rough plan so that other can comment. There is a lot of existing information which will be helpful.
Sometimes, the joy that the Daybreak brings, is unparalleled!
