Even if we miss the train, can take vehicle . hopefully the plains might not be as difficult as the Haridwar route. What say ?
Haven't understood - you want to drive at night if you don't get the train? Don't recommend it.

Should I make a night halt at Gwaldham or Bageshwar, which is more interesting ?

Gwaldam.

After 2 nights at Auli I will head for Haridwar, say post breakfast, keen to know what I can really cover on my route to Haridwar before catching a night train to Delhi or should I make a night halt at any of the Prayags , if yes which one ?

It's a VERY long drive - approx 290 km. I never suggest it, but if it's unavoidable, you'll have to leave very early in the morning. You can take a lunch-break at Rudraprayag. Also recommended for a night-halt (which I strongly suggest you consider).

8th : rishikesh to rudraprayag. O/N in rudraprayag.
9th-12th : rudraprayag to auli (stay for 4 nights)
13th: auli to haridwar. O/N in haridwar
14th: haridwar to agra. O/N in agra
15th: agra to delhi. O/N in delhi
16th catch a flight back to bombay in the evening.

now for the questns

1. is it a good idea to travel from haridwar to agra on the 14th or shud v stay the night in delhi n do a day trip to agra on the 15th???

2. i've heard from a lot of ppl that TAJ looks beautiful in the moonlight... do u think its worth staying at agra for this sight???

3. is one day trip to agra enuf to see the taj and fatehpur sikri??

wud love to have yr suggestions before i go ahead wid the hotel bookings
Firstly, I must point out as I did in previous post that Auli-Haridwar is a very long haul for one day. Better to break at Rudraprayag if possible.

1) It's better to go direct Haridwar-Agra, IMO. Unnecessary back-track via Delhi.

2) Purely your personal choice. Check the dates - you wudn't want to be stuch with a new moon, right?

3) Yes, if it's just that it's manageable. And Sikandra on the way in or out, if you have time left.

The Rudraprayag halt, as suggested by Dilliwala, is surely a great decision. This is one of the best prayags I have seen....and the location of the GMVN-TRH is also ideal. The view of the Alaknanda and Mandakini confluence is absolutely time-less!

I am posting the Picassa links to my photo albums of Rudraprayag, Devaprayag and Laxmanjhula below:

Aaah! You've come to the right person. I very much wanted to take this route in July '07, but was talked out of it, and with good reason (road damaged/closed somewhere near Shama). But that was monsoon, and it's winter now so you cud be lucky.
Here's what you do - at Bageshwar, go to the KMOU office right in the middle of the bazar and ask them if their buses are going that way. If they aren't, find the jeep-stand and ask the drivers if THEY are going that way. If they are, ask detailed Qs about the condition of the road, and then decide if you can manage it.

You can go Ranikhet from Someshwar too. There is a bifurcation at gagas in someshwar Dwarahat road.

Oh wudn't I love that!

But no, if you charge you also become liable for the accuracy of the info, which I can't guarantee. And you become liable for any bad experiences - don't want angry customers breaking down my door becos I promised snow/sunshine/no clouds and they didn't get any.

You can always add a disclaimer in fine-print!
