Badrinath Highway and other roads opened

The highways that are a lifeline for the hills finally opened after the rains. The highways that are the lifeline of the hills remained closed due to landslides resulting from the continuous rains in the region. Rains slow down in Uttarakhand, but this may change

Although the rains have taken rest for the time being in the State, yet the met department has predicted a change in the weather with likelihood of moderate rains in some parts of the State. With final batch of pilgrims returning, Kailash Mansarovar yatra concludes
PITHORAGARH: The annual Kailash Mansarovar yatra came to an end on Friday with the 18th and the final batch of pilgrims returning back to Gunji in Uttarakhand via Lipulekh pass. Officials said that this year, a record 919 pilgrims from 24 states took part in the yatra from the Kumaon side which is the maximum number of people undertaking the pilgrimage ever since the yatra on the route started in 1981.
On Saturday, the last batch, which had 33 pilgrims, including nine women, will be taken to Dharchula. The group originally had 34 members, but one of them sustained an injury in Tibet and returned.

Hemkund sahib portals to close down on 10th of October, 2017

No chopper service from Kedarnath
Dehradun: The Department of Aviation on Tuesday stopped heli-charter flights operating from Kedarnath for an indefinite period. The ban came after the Department of Aviation found that most of the companies were not following the guidelines mandatory in the wake of the NGT ruling. Yamunotri Highway closed due to landslide

Due to a massive landslide in the Aujari section of the Highway the road to Yamuntori got blocked and about 1300 pilgrims are struck. Choppers to Kedar resume service after day’s suspension
DEHRADUN: A day after chopper services to Kedarnath were suspended by Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Development Authority (UCADA), the facility was resumed on Wednesday. The operations were suspended by the aviation authority as the operators failed to submit a daily report detailing their adherence to National Green Tribunal guidelines.
According to NGT guidelines, the choppers have to fly above the height of 600 metres and maintain noise level no more than 50 dB. The choppers are also required to have GPS installed. Landslide on Yamunotri highway continues

The sliding of rocks from the hillside along the Yamunotri highway continued even after seven days and thus, blocked the movement of vehicular traffic along the highway. Kedarnath receives fresh snowfall
