hello friends,

Well i would say after reading beautiful details about Auli... I am already in love with this place I have traveled in Himachal pradesh but never have been to mighty uttrakhand valley. Can anyone suggest the best time for a novice to visit for skiing?
looking forward to hear all yours stories and experiences.

Hii friends,

Me and wife going to Auli for skiing experience from 4-7 feb. Any recommendations for hotels to stay in Auli/Joshimath ? Any agency for skiing? Looking for budgeted places to stay. Also, has anybody been to Auli recently? How are the conditions there?

Cheers !

The most reliable agency is GMVN for skiing. Other wise you have plenty of local skiing agency at Auli. In December end I had gone Auli, and plenty of snow had fallen during that time. Again I m visiting Auli this weekend for some personal reasons. I shall update you regarding the situation.

Rohit, My wife and I are also planning a similar trip March end.

If you could share with me your experience a little urgently, it would be of great help!

I have posed my questions in the post above this one!

Hi Shah,
A few thoughts:
1 - Will I encounter snow in Auli? Will skiing be possible at this time of the year?
Skiing is happening in Auli now is what I am told. It may be possible in Gorson, a few kilometers up from Auli.
2 - Will 2 days be enough to spend in Auli?
Depends. Do you know skiing? I have never done it myself, so cannot comment.
3 - Also planning to go around to places like Joshimath, Rishikesh and (maybe) Dehradun... what will be the best to cover in 5-6 days (incl. travel time)... please help me plan 4 - How should I travel from Mumbai to these places if I want to spend minimum time in traveling?
Book a Mumbai to Dehradun flight via Delhi. Take a cab from Dehradun/Rishikesh the next day to Joshimath. The rest depends on the time you have.

Hi,

I am new here. Seeking some help.

I am planning to visit Auli, Chopta and around in March 3rd week 2017. My plan is something like below

Day1. Dehradun to Jakholi

Day2. Jakholi to Auli (Cable car from Joshimath)

Day3. Auli

Day4. Auli to Chopta

Day5. Chopta (Deoria Tal, day trip)

Day6. Chopta

Day7. to Rishikesh/Haridwar

Day8. Dehradun

Please advise if the plan is fine.

Can I get contact information of a good tour operator in this area for primarily car booking. Some good hotel suggestion for Haridwar and Chopta will be very helpful.

Thanks in advance!

3 nights in Chopta doesn't make much sense. It'll be jolly cold and the GHs, if indeed any are open, are quite basic.
I suggest stay only Day 4 at Chopta (or Baniya Kund or Dugalbitta). Stay Day 5 at DT or Sari. You could spend Day 6 night at Rudraprayag.

Plenty of accom at Haridwar, search the forum.

For car hire, you can speak to Shubhyatra Travels, Rishikesh (search for contacts). Some other members have used them to satisfaction.
