Hi, I was there on the 1st of Jan 2011 the snow was really good the ski track for the forth coming games on feb 2011 has been prepared.

Hi I am planning to go to Auli on 26-30 Jan. Would there be sufficient snow for skiing ? Hows the snowfall scenario there ?

its snowing at Auli right NOW... yess you shall be able to ski in early march but much better conditions in Feb..

Any clue if it has snowed this week? and is the skiing on for this week and next week?

clouds have started building again and its most likely it will snow thursday-friday in the areas above 3000 mtrs across garhwal... skiing is ON this & next weekend...

HariDwar to Joshimath it will take around 10 hours.. you have options of shared taxi and Bus.. taxi will reach fast but may be a bit uncomfortable as it will be occupied with 10 persons...

Thanks for the info Tilak. So this shared taxi is the shared jeep in which they will stuff people & you may have to hold your luggage in your lap. If that is the case 10 hours ride with all my luggage in the Jeep would be quite uncomfortable.

One way to get around that is by paying for 2 seats. But then you have to make it absolutely clear to the driver that he cannot pick up an extra person anywhere on the way. Try to grab the 2 front seats, that makes it a bit easier.

Getting some great ideas. GMVNL guys told me about Himgiri Express which is a 2*2 bus service starting from haridwar. Does anybody have their contact number?
