Binsar and Chaukori are my favorites. Stay at the KMVN in binsar and there seem to be many new GH's in Chaukori.
And binsar is closer to Kathgodam, just some 4 hours.

Excluding train-travel time, 6 days in Kumaon Uttaranchal would allow you to see Kausani, Ranikhet, Nainital and Mukhteshwar, all of which are wonderful places. Fine-tuning of your itinerary will allow you to include Binsar also, and in that case you may omit Ranikhet.

My pick: Kausani and surroundings, and the drive upto Gwaldam. Mukhteshwar in October......well yes.

Yes, Binsar Kumaon Mandal guest house would not be the right choice for senior citizens. Even geographically, you have to kind of walk inside the sanctuary to reach the place- plus, no lights so rightly pointed by one of the members!
For senior citizens, better to station at Naintal or Bhimtal. Naintal is slightly crowded but has all facilities. Bhimtal is more quite place and there you can surely consider KMVN hotel as the location is good (but again- if you are moving here and there locally by walking, they would have to climb up to reach the hotel!). Instead of changing hotels at different locations, better would be to get stationed at one place- and leisurely cover Bhimtal, Naukuchiatal, Ranikhet. I think they would enjoy more by covering these places at leisure and enjoy the beauty...all these places as such donot have much things to see- beauty is in just staying and relaxing in that environment.
About hotel suggestions, clarity on budget would help a lot...

I would also suggest Binsar around 129 kms from the nearest railway station (Kathgodam/Haldwani). A cab takes around 4-5 hours to reach Binsar. KMVN is the best options available at Binsar, though there are many other options but not centrally at Binsar. Yes, electricity would be an issue as its a wildlife sanctuary, though electricity (Generator) is available for an hour or so in the evening. Hot water in the morning is provided uptill 7:30 (if i'm not wrong).

A must visit place & if that does not fit, then plan for Saattal, which is around 35 kms from kathgodam. A good place to relax & book tents of YMCA, which is located at the lakeside & has tents with 4 beds.
Regards

yes, Sattal can be good -in fact, they can stay at KMVN guest house- it is right on the lake. It is very quite- but for food, there would be complete dependency on the hotel where they would stay- plus no hospital nearby.

Guys i am focussing on doctors because travellers are senior citizens & they are from kolkata - a hot & humid place.
I was on the verge of loosing my sweet heart - my wife, if there was no doctor in kedarnath there that time. It was around 9:30 to 10 in the night.
I have had a terrible experience which can not be forgotten in my lifetime.
Intention is not to frighten people but to have a safety measure when any emergency comes. &
Emergency does not come after knocking doors. . . .
