Question Second Honeymoon At Nainital on 2nd week of May 2009.

Hi all,

After much research and reading through web I came to stumble upon this really great forum. I am from Bangladesh and India is one of my all time favorite tour destination. After getting marriage this is my first visit to India for my honeymoon. I am planning to start on 6/7th of May from Kolkata and will stay 8/9 days. I need few info from all the friends,

1. What will be the temperature of Nainital during 7-15th of May?
2. What is the best way (both cost effective and fast) to reach Nainital from Kolkata? Primarily I am planning for Bagh express, what could be a better option? Will I need to do advance booking for the train? How to book ticket from bangladesh?

3. A list of points I should go during my stay.
4. Suggestion for hotels.

Sorry if I am requesting much. But this is the first time I am visiting India with a lady. I really don't want to take any risk, Earlier 1/2 times I travelled 3000 KM of India without even any plan or reservation. Oh those golden days!!!!!

Regards
Jimi

Dear Puchu,

I am trying to avoid break journey. So I planned bagh express, knowing it will touch 63 stations. I will try to enjoy stations even :-). Just tell me one thing, How tough it will be to get a hotel room in mid range (mall area) hotels if I don't book it in advance? My tentative date of arrival will be 9th May.
I am really worried.

Regards,
Jimi

May is high tourist season. You may not be able to choose where you want to stay, you would have to stay where there is availability. That would be the only problem if you don't book in advance.

Friends,
One more thing, What is the best way of get internet facility in Nainital? Does hotels have any such facility or will I find some cafe or free hot-spot there? I will be carrying a vodafone (india) SIM, how is the speed and charge for vodafone edge connectivity at Nainital?

I have an Airtel SIM with edge connectivity and it is not bad early mornings here in Landour. How Vodaphone runs I don't know. I do know Airtel is good for most of India - it depends on the location of your place and whether any hill or whatever is affecting the reception between the tower and you. My speed which I do complain about because I have broadband back in Jaisalmer, is around dial-up connection speed, but actually early mornings for several hours at present it is running quite decently. I am using it at present.
Every cloud has a silver lining!
