I am not sure about recent permit process! Last September, we did it the easiest way by taking help from an agency in Joshimath. You have to pay some fee to the agency and they get it done for you! This is how our guide made us do it, so not sure if any other easier way is there!

permit process is not so tedious, its very simple to get from SDM office, you just need two passport size photograph and application (with brief detail of yourself )seeking for permission to trek beyond mana village for satopanth swargarohini trek. It may take time depending upon the circumstances.
The easiest way is to tie up the permit procedure with the guide you are hiring, and very nominal charges will be taken for that.

for the alternative regarding permit you have to have a chit chat with the local guides for managing the trek. and in this regard, here is the cell no. of one of the guide from mana village Mr. Prakash (Parru) badwal 9411351479. He will sort out all kinds of query related with the satopanth swargarohini trek.
