Satopanth tal trek

HI Dibyendu,

I stay in Delhi presently, and as far as the trek to Satopanth Tal is concerned, we have got a years time in hand! Though its my dream to trek to Satopanth Tal (along with numerous other trekking destinations), its a little too early to commit on anything! Lets see how things progress, and then take a call!

Oh.. sure you can do it without any agency. Hire a guide and do permit yourself that's all.
Reach Joshimath with one full working days in your hand and you can have the permit.

I am from West Bengal. I also very much interested about
trek of Sathpanthtal. Could you please give the details of cost break up ?

We have talked to a couple of guides. They seem more interested in package system, where we may have to pay around Rs 7000 per person Badrinath-to-Badrinath for the full trek. The rate includes guide, porters, food, tents, utensils, stove, permits.

October is better than September, chance of rain is minimum.

Can I join your team with a request to you that is it possible to make this trip
on first week of October 2011 with Auli and Valley of Flower? you are a mahaguru member so DADA you have enough . experience for trek to make the trip like that.

I was planning for this trip last year...but my bad luck...couldn't get time to go...
While I was talking with different guides at Mana the year before they were arguing that June is the best time...and in October there would be scarcity of water in that region...
So, I just want to know about views....

Oct is the wrong time to visit VOF, since there will not be any flowers. The best time for VOF is July-Aug when the flowers are in full bloom.

Yeah july-aug is best for VOF.But for satopanth tal it is october.We were there in october and only in chamtoli water was little away from camping ground.

Oh...that is fine...I also love to visit Garhwal in October.
I've been to this region many times and in all seasons...but my favourite time is October...I've never seen such a blue sky in any other time....

Can you share your experience with the agencies...I mean how they arranged the package...Last year I had a talk with Mannu Rawat over phone...he is an experienced guide, but I've heard that he has become too much professional these days...

When I was there the route was not that popular.Not much agencies were there.We took our own permission from joshimath and took a guide from Mahavir Singh Rana (Hi-Adventure or some thing like that)and porters also.Thats all. We carried our ration utensils tents from kolkata.Two years ago I went to Joshimath but could not find Mahavir.Even Mana also changed a lot.It is more congested now,with lots of agencies for satopanth.
