I must admit I was bit perplexed by your query

I am heading there next weekend. It's been raining heavily in Mumbai also, don't know what's going to happen there.

Were there enough flowers in the valley?
Given that my taxi rammed into a truck enroute to bangalore airport at the start of the trip, I should consider myself very lucky. I felt that the valley was beautiful with all the colorful flowers. Many locals felt that this year is not the best they have seen. All said and done, quantity is qualitative How much is enough
I enjoyed the valley. am sure you will too...god bless

I had left for Badrinath on 14th August 2012 from Delhi. We stayed at Haridwar. We started for Badrinath on 15th August at 6am. Road between Pipalkoti and Joshimath remained closed due to landslides and was opened at 4.30pm. We had to wait for 2 hours at the landslide location to get the road clear. Many people had been waiting since morning that day. Road at Patalganga was in very bad shape. It was full of mud & stones. My car made several sounds while crossing the same. But it did not rain on 16, 17 & 18. So we managed to visit Badrinath, VoF & Hemkund without any hassle. We stopped at Pipalkoti on 18th crossing Patalganga. This proved to be good decision as it rained heavily on night of 18th and the roads were blocked again. But we reached Delhi by 10pm after starting from Pipalkoti at 5.30am.

Delhi-Nainital in good shape!!

Got back yesterday from a 3 night stay at Nainital. Drove all the way and the road conditions are as under:

Faridabad-Noida-Ghaziabad - Good..I took the Kalindi Kunj-Noida-Crossing Republik-Ghaziabad route..

Ghaziabad-Hapur Bypass-Garhmukteshwar-Gajraula-Moradabad Bypass- Excellent!! 4 lane HW. It was raining cats and mouse on return but was painless due to good road and it being a holiday (Eid).

Moradabad Bypass-Rampur - Good.. Road Construction ongoing but the stretch is still in good shape..Will have to drive slow due to frequent detours and slim roads at times..Crossing Rampur is still a mess .. One can avoid taking first left as you enter Rampur and instead take the next left avoiding some of the inner roads....

Rampur - Bilaspur - Ok to Bad , 40-50 average with intermittent potholes..Crossing Bilaspur can be itchy again !!

Bilaspur - Rudrapur - Haldwani - Wonderful!! Superb road and lush green forest make it a perfect drive through ..I loved it under sun and rain on return. Crossing Haldwani/Kathgodam is again a pain but still ok...

Haldwani/Kathgodam- Nainital - Excellent hill roads.. That is how the roads should be on all hill stations...Good job!! though it was raining and cloudy/foggy at times, the road stayed put..maybe it was laid recently, but was a loving drive..

Overall - Good roads make it a superb trip to Nainital..It was such a pleasure to go during monsoons...cloud/fog/rain all through the stay...enjoyed and relaxed..

If you are prone to motion sickness then it will happen irrespective of the mode of transport (though at times it also depends on how roughly/smoothly your driver is negotiating turns), and as you know, it would be better to take medicine to prevent it.

Shared jeeps (unless you plan to hire a cab) are the most time-effective mode of transport in that region. To avoid vomitting, try to take front seat, and NEVER sit at the back (sideways seats).
Thanks Photofreak,

Will I get shared jeep from Haridwar or Rishikesh? n which place exactly there??
Can I pls get some idea of schedule and stay? I'll reach Haridwar by Mussoorie Exp on 19th sep 12.
krisna hi prem ka sagar hai .......

When can people expect that part open? Any progressive news Dilli?

Last Tuesday I spoke with Bhagwan Singh of Shivalik Lodge Dharali who with full confidence told me that Gangotri route would be open in another two days.
