Update 1:00PM Friday
In all likelihood, the Badrinath route would be open by today evening.
Or it may have already been opened as I write this.

August... we'll reach Haridwar on 19th early, on that day 'll star for Joshimath, Ghangaria on 20th, VOF on 21st, Hemkund 22nd, back to G Ghat then Karna Prayag/ Rudra Prayag/Rishikesh... which ever possible on 23rd, Haridwar on 24th, train on 25th morning....
Very tight schedule, I know... so really worried...

Follow the Met Department's (IMD) short term (3-4 days) forecast for Uttarakhand. I have been tracking it since 2010 and have found it surprisingly accurate.I guess Pataal Ganga is proving to be a pain-point this season, and landslides are almost certain if there is a slightly heavy rain.

DD,I think you should alter 21st with 22nd...........Hemkund is tough & longer than VOF..........if you really have to come down to G'ghat or more farther on 22nd

I must follow it...landslides... yes, the matter to worry... but in August VOF is perfect, naa?

Here in, IM, it is suggested to do VOF first... for the same reason, PKanti. You want to say VOF and back to ghangaria then G Ghat on 22nd? 'll be possible?

I guess PK is right, Hemhund Sahib should be done first as you would be less tired at the start of Day Y.

We'ld think.... good suggestion... and saving a day is valuable for us.

Yes..you should consider it...Hemkund Sahib trek is relatively tough so better if you are as fresh as possible at the outset. In treking, fatigue just adds up every day even if one has a full rest.
