Road condition is good so it will depend on which is your preferable mode of commuting.

The Road to badri/kedar is open now but the road condition is not too good. Be prepared for delays and road blocks, specially if it rains.

Heavy rain disrupted traffic again on Badrinath route.
A proposal to start Helicopter service for Hemkunt Sahib is in the offing. Proposed to start from August 10th. This also includes Helicopter from Kedarnath to Badri/Hemkunt Sahib. For those who can read Hindi all teh relevant information about the helicopter service is here.

When living in Meerut the wife and i used to do Meerut - Haridwar in 4 hours leaving at 5am, the 4 laner highway was under construction. Are we now saying that for the most part it is complete? Leaving Haridwar at 5 am, how many hours to Delhi do you think these days?

For Haridwar - Delhi, if you start in morning at 5 AM it'll still take at least 5 Hrs. if you are in a bus then it will invariably break at Khatauli so add another 30 minutes or so !

Self drive and on some of those straighter longer stretches one can get cracking a bit.. But is the dual carriageway mainly completed?

If you are in your own vehicle, why not opt for the Canal Side road from Roorkee till Muradnagar. It was a bumpy road once, now it's been improved except for a very small patch. This will save you at least 1 hour.

However, please do not travel on this road after dark.

Good point - i couldn't tell exactly where, but coming from Haridwar there is a broken bridge (old road?) just before Roorkee and on the right where one can get on that canal road , isn't it?

Ummm.... I am not sure, but may be you are talking about Bahadarabad..... If yes, I'll say plesae don't take that route. For Haridwar-Roorkee, stay on the highway and then from Army roundabout in Roorkee take the right turn, after around a KM you'll reach Canal, from here take left and continue till Muradnagar by canal side....

Or you may take this canal road from Mangalore also, which is after some 45 minutes from Haridwar.

Bahadarabad sounds like somewhere you don't want to get caught napping! And Yeah it's easy enough to get on the canal road at Roorkee itself via the army chowk - Thanks a lot

traffic disrupted on The Badri - Rishikesh route again - landslides in several places a bridge damaged on the main highway. Situation not likely to improve too soon. Kedarnath also Rambara traffic affected due to landslide.
Will take at least another 2 days for normalisation. Advice do not travel towards Badri.
