Time for the annual run again
? Where are you going?

That may be because it's correct name is Asnaur Gad, but most likely because it isn't even a place. I.e. there was no village or anything there previously, GMVN found some open land where they could build something, and the place got named after the nearby gad (mountain stream).

Refer to post #1676 for details about this route Road/Traffic Conditions in Uttarakhand Haridwar-Badrinath route update
was on the route on 15th, 16th 17th, due to rain started again in the region came across few landslides near Helang and at the Patalganga region , we had been stuck nearly 4hrs near patalganga due to landslide and falling stones( when small stones stricks at the walls of mountain it blast like a bomb ). Major landslide prone zones which i figured out are between srinagar-rudrapayag region, kirtinagar region, Helang-patalganga region, and last 8km lapes of badrinath area

Back from my trip to Satopanth Taal, Chopta, Tunganath and Kedarnath. Road condition was very bad for the entire trip but we were lucky to not face any issue. I kept two reserve days in my itinerary to accomodate for delays for landslide/rain etc which I used in a visit to Jaipur.
We travelled to Joshimath on 4th September and reached in the afternoon. We were travelling in shared zeep and there was falling stones near Helang (Patalganga??). Our driver waited for a minute or two and then suddenly sped up to cross the area. We reached Joshimath safely but that same part was closed on 5th Sep, rest of our team mates could not cross the region on 5th. By the way, there was no rain on both the days.
Joshimath to Badri was done on 5th September afternoon, road was terrible near Lambagarh but did not face any issue. Returned to Joshimath on 10th afternoon and it was raining continiously. We were warned that the Lambagarh part may get closed soon.
On 11th morning, road was blocked near Patalganga. However, it was opened in 4 hours thanks to BRO. Our plan was to start late and travel to Chopta, so we didn't encounter the blockade.
Gopeshwar to Chopta road was in very bad shape but manageable, we heard that it was closed for 8 days. In Chopta also, it was raining continiously and we spent the night there. We moved to Ukhimath on 12th after a visit to Tunganath. Travelled on the Ukhimath-Gaurikund route on 13th and road was aweful in the Phata - Sonprayag stretch. Travelled on Gaurikund - Haridwar route on 15th, was stuck for half an hour for landslide clearing in Rudraprayag - Srinagar stretch.
As of my visit, there was no good stretch of road at all.

Hi,
Nice to hear about your successful trek...
Our trek was great...
We were at Satopant for 3 nights...and also visited Kedar on our way back...
We were expecting you at Satopant...We were at Satopant till 9th Sep.
The landslide issue was really too bad this year.

Hmm, not the same as Garurganga then. Wonder why I never noticed it. Or maybe I never read the name anywhere. I do remember a spot above Garurganga where the road was bad, luckily never got stuck myself.

I don't (witness my having to ask about Patalganga). I just know some stuff. Asnol Gad I know about because I've been to Yamunotri and saw the place along the way. Always good to note anything about GMVN/accom, never know when you might need it.

Not very. Days will be pleasant in the sun. Nights will be cold (comparatively, for a Punekar
), but certainly not freezing. A heavy sweater or jacket (or both) will be useful. Similar Threads
