Road/Traffic Conditions in Uttarakhand

Heard today from another member (Uttaranchal trekker) that he's been stuck in Lohaghat for the last 4 days. There have been landslides outside the town in all directions - Devidhura, Ghat, and Champawat. Maybe some road is opened today or tomorrow by BRO.
Anyone wanting to travel in that part of Kumaon in the next few days should check conditions beforehand.

It is on the Gangotri Highway between Maneri and Bhatwari about 30 kms from Uttarkashi.

The road was closed as of yesterday - no news of change in situation till today - proceed with caution and if all bookings are done then take a chance

I'm just coming from VOF and Tungnath trip. Yesterday, the road from Rishikeh to Rudraprayag was opened. But it's in very bad shape at 10-15 KM before Srinagar and in between Devprayag -Rishikesh, so the road may again be blocked.
In Josjhimath, up till Thursday, major portion of the road was in damaged condition near Helang and Tangdi (in between Joshimath and chamoli).
And regarding the VOF path, just after crossing the bridge ( 1.5-2 KM from Ghangharia) the path has been completely washed out by the rain .

Dear seniors..
I always wanted to ask this question... since road before and after Devprayag are so damaged and dangerous especially in monsoons.. y don't people opt kathgodam-Simli road.. esp. for those who go VoF in August every year????

is it for distance factor or is that road also would be equally damaged??

Dear adarsh, are you talking about kathgodam-Ranikhet-Dwarahat-Chaukhutia-Karnaprayag route? I have seen a lot of sikhs using this route, may be they are the people who live in Udham singh nagar and adjoining areas and it is a shorter route for them.
