Again, who said there's less rain this year? Y'all are making the classic mistake of comparing the whole of last year's monsoon to this year's, which is only half-way through. Let's remember that last year's rains were normal (whatever that means) till early September, and it was only in the rest of that month that they hit with a vengeance. livin has provided great detail; I also spent a few days in Muss recently and what I heard from the locals is that this year's rains till now are much more than last year's in the same period.

In January the Tungnath-Chandrashila trail is likely to be snowed under.

Hi All,
Seems like bad whether has started and clouds all over noth India. I was in badrinath last August and stucked in road wash near lambagad. But managed to return back Delhi in six days. feels, we should not take our own vehicles farther then Rishikesh and should manage it by public transport only from there.

works a lot.. but believe me.. it scared me at times.. once near sonprayag, again near junglechatti and finally once near chinnka
but when i recall those moments... they'r nostalgia

Last year it was worst because of 'Cloud Burst 'in few places at Himalayas, if I am not wrong. It was not because of rain.

The roads mentioned above are Landslide prone zones and you will find it round the year. I have experienced same thing for the last 10 years during October.

true.. i was appending aiwester's list.. good that u traveled there for last 10 years.. i wish i too would
what u said about last year's cloudburst must also be true.. because i kept on hearing that news after august-end or so last year.. so it's not a common thing and surely 'climatic shift' is on !!!
