Riverside Camps (Rishikesh)

Is it possible to just stay in the riverside camps that line Ganga upstream from Rishikesh and not do any rafting.
It seems an attractive thing to camp by Ganga but I am not keen on rafting.
Also which camp is recommended.

There are a variety of price ranges depending on the level of the facilities on offer. I had gone there last year and paid around Rs.3200 for a couple with one rafting trip and two nights stay- meals are inclusive. I seem to have misplaced the guys card, will try to trace his number as I remember getting the contact thru someone. I remember that this camp was higher up the path than most. It was along a dangerous rapid called the 'wall'.
Be aware that most camps serve basic meals and the toilets are makeshift and quite unhygenic. Also the temperature in the afternoons will be unbearable at the camps, my suggestion is dont stay at a camp if you dont want to raft. Stay at one of the riverside resorts instead which offers airconditioning and proper johns.
