Rishikesh in December
Rishikesh in December
Hey there,
I'm planning my next trip to India in December... Rishikesh is next and I'm wondering what the climate is like there day time and night time that time of year. I don't know much about the place yet but if anyone has any tips or information on the place I'd be delighted to hear it!
If anyone has any suggestions on other places worth visiting in that region that'd be great too.
Thanks
Caroline :-)

The weather is usually dry & sunny through the day, however mornings in Rishikesh tend to be a little cooler until around 11am when it starts to warm up, it's due to a wind that blows down the valley from the hills/mountains.How long are you going for & what are your interests?
Bhandari family Swiss cottage at High Bank is a nice place to stay with a garden restaurant & rooms around Rs 350-650.

Was there late Nov/early Dec last year and the Ganges was swimmable!
Perfect sunny and not too hot (during that particular period anyway!

Dear Caroline,
You can safely visit Rishikesh in December. I will suggest you to add Haridwar, Dehradun and Moussorrie also in your plan. Leaving the other places and visiting only Rishikesh will not be a good idea. Haridwar is a good place to spend holidays. Donot miss the ganga arati in the evening at Har ki Pauri. You will require 1 day to cover the sight seeings at Haridwar which include Chandi Devi Mandir, Manasha Devi Mandir, Kankhal, Pawan Dham, Bharat Mata and other various mandirs. You can hire a Auto for sight seeing at Haridwar. You have to bargain hard with them and make sure that you cover all the places as because they will insist you that all places cannot be covered. In 2011 I visited Haridwar and booked a Auto to complete the entire sight seeings at Rs. 450/- only.
In Rishikesh also 1 day is enough for the sight seeing. Donot miss Moussorrie as because it is the Queen of Hills. During the night you will have spectacular view of Dehradun from the Mall at Moussorie. Try to stay at least for 2 nights at Moussorie.
Beside the above places you can also go for 4 Dham tour that is Kedarnath, Badrinath, Yamunotri and Gangotri. I have not yet visited Yamunotri and Gangotri but I can say that Kedarnath and Badrinath are awesome. You will have spectacular view of nature on your way to Kedarnath and Badrinath. For the above tour you have to contact with the tour operators with hard bargains.
