Query on Dehradun Hotels

Dear IM Members,

We have planned for an extended day tour at Dehradun in November (after completion of our Kedarnathji tour).

Can anyone suggest me for a good hotel at Dehradun which should be near Dehradun Railway station. As we have to catch our Delhi bound train from Dehradun railway station at 5 A.M in morning on next day. So don't want to take any chance of missing this train.

Also can I book the hotel room through online? I have heard that there are few hotels near Dehradun railway station but they are not recommended for staying (don't know the exact reason why?)

GMVN is very close to the station, has different categories of rooms, and can be booked online.

Hi Dilliwala is it a walking distance from GMVN hotel to Dheradun station as our train to Delhi is at 5 A.M from Dheradun station so we do not know whether we can get any auto/cab at that time in morning. So it may be required we might walk to the station. Do you know how far is the GMVN hotel and what is the name of that hotel?

GMVN Drona is around 1.5 KM from the Railway Station.

I think nearest would be Hotel Meedo. It just next to Railway Station and is OK place to spend a night.

There are some lodges/hotels just outside the railway station gate. But they are dilapidated and appear unsafe.

1.5 km?!! Haridwar Chauk is visible from the gate of GMVN, what - 100 m? Even from there to Saharanpur Chauk is less than a km. Drona to RS has to be less than 500 m. I've walked it myself (although the last time was 20 years ago ).

I am from Dehradun only.There are couple of decent hotels @dehradun. You may try following :

1> Hotel Inderloak, at Rajpur road ( Main Road of Dehradun )
2> Hotel Pacific
3> Hotel Madhuban
4> Hotel Great Value.

Rates are Rs 2200 to Rs 4500.
These hotels are mostly occopied by corporates & foreign tourists.

There are couple of other hotels nearby Rly station but I am not sure about their rates.

Indeed, they are all good hotels. But, none of them is near Railway Station.

We stayed at MJ Residency which is a very nice hotel.
But I dont know how far the station is.
