My few cents:
Both plans looks same except that I notice it differs for way back from Munsiyari. I am not too sure of accommodation at Patal Bhuvaneshwar - confirm first before considering your plan 2.

Distance wise your plans looks do-able with few days of travelling only e.g. day you reach binsar from munsiyari - it will take whole day. You will start in the morning and reach Binsar only late evening take 9 hours for this drive.

In my opinion Jageshwar is a better place to visit than mukteshwar.

Thanks Amit... we are also preferring plan 1

Actually there are couple of changes in plan 1 and plan2.
In plan 1 we are staying 2 nights in chaukori (2nd day chaukori to patal bhuvaneshwar and return to chaukori)

in plan 2 we are staying only 1 night in chaukori.

similarly in plan 1 we are staying 2 nights at binsar. but in plan 2 we are staying only 1 night.

Also are kmvn good and can be booked over other private hotels??

From my perspective, plan 2 is better. Given the choice, I'd chose to spend the extra night in Binsar rather than Chakouri. That said, you are perhaps trying to do too much. Once one has been to Munsiyari, the views from the farther off places become less impressive... I suspect Kausani and Binsar views are similar and you might consider skipping one... Also, Nainital is overrun with tourists and is not longer worth a visit... I'd cut out one of the towns and spend an extra day or two in Munsiyari.

In Munsiyari, I'd highly recommend Khaliya Top...

KMVN definitely best at Binsar and Chkouri. Less obvious at Munsiyari, though we did not stay there as we did not get a reservation. Look at other posts for recommendations... If you like hiking and nature, there is a hotel on the way to Khaliya Top (2 hours hike up). Absolutely out of this world location... You have to get in touch and they can organize someone to help you with the luggage, etc. I unfortunately forgot the name...

More time in Binsar/Jageshwar and lesser in the Chaukori/Munsiyari area, methinks. Also, must you go to Nainital, it is best avoided. Can think of one of the other lakes or Mukhteshwar on the way back, or avoid those altogether and split time between Kausani/Chaukori etc and Binsar/Jageshwar; it will be more relaxing. Stop at Ranikhet en route for a meal or something.

KMVNs are generally in the best locations everywhere but they are basic or slightly better than basic. Don't expect luxury or great variety of food. In Binsar, that is the only place to be.

Also, just noticed you have two threads on the same topic. Against forum rules and will be confusing. You could request the mods to merge the threads... click on the red triangle in one of your posts to contact them.

Take a look at the link - https://wanderthehimalayas.com/2016/...liya-top-trek/

This is from Khaliya Top. It refers to a lodge at Bhujani - which seems about right in terms of the hotel I was referring to. Unfortunately I did not see it at KMVN. If we were to go back to Munsiyari again - we'd plan 2-3 nights at Munsiyari and at least one night at this place. It is a 5 km trek up (and not for everyone), but I can't think of any other closer to perfect as location that I have visited in India. We regretted not having known it ahead of time and not having the time to rectify the problem by staying an extra night.

Otherwise, one day exploring Munsiyari is enough... To me, Munsiyari without Khaliya Top or some other excursion in the area is not worth the visit (on account of the loooong drive to get there).

anupthorat,

I think plan 2 is better, because Plan 1, in my opinion wastes a couple of days. If you stick to Plan 1 anyway, do not keep Jageshwar as a separate day, you can visit it en route Lal Kuan from Binsar (with sufficient time in hand, if your train is in the evening).

In my opinion, you should visit Nainital, if you haven't yet, especially because you have a child with you. He/she might enjoy the boating, the lake, the ropeway etc. Of course, it's a little touristy, you may not find absolute calm and proximity to nature, and personally, I would any day prefer Binsar and Munisyari over it, but you might well have other priorities.

You can also start the trip in reverse and end it at Nainital. The advantage of this will be that you won't have to carry the extra load after shopping at Nainital (again assuming a shopping spree that is common in a family trip).

Hope it helps!
