Planning a trip to Hemkund Sahib in December

Hello all,

Iam planning a trip to Hemkund Sahib this December, with my wife and daughter! My daughter would he nearly 2 yrs by then. We are thinking to carry her using a shoulder carry as we have to trek for 7 km to reach hemkund....Jus wanted to enquire if the terrain to climb is too risky for carrying my daughter or is it do-able?????do we have palki's to carry us all the way or do we have to do the trek ourselves?????

hemkund is open till 1st week of Oct

hi
Hemkund is open onlt till the 1st week of oct. Further i think that the weather will be too cold for all of you especially a 2 year old As chennai dosent experience any cold weather.everything will be covered in snow and i think that even the way to go up there will be closed or blocked upwards joshimath

If you still want to plan the route for hemkund generally opens from 1st week of june till the 1st week of oct. During this season its very easy to get mules, palki's etc for treking. Hemkund is a trek of 19 km which is to be down in 2 days

Unless you are a seasoned mountaineer, you cannot do it in December. Very cold (minus 10 to -20 deg Celsius) and too much fresh snow.
