Congratulations that you are getting married & welcome to india mike !
Dear, auli & dharamshala are very far from each other. & you will lose your precious time in travelling. So choose either of them. Both are good places. You can then explore the nearby places around.

Visiting both places does not make any sense as all the time will go in commuting. Avoid Auli and opt for Dharamshala. If you plan to be in Uttarakhand, look for destination other than Auli.
Sometimes, the joy that the Daybreak brings, is unparalleled!
As per my opinion go to Auli...........its just awsome.........if you really just dont want to get in a chaos and just enjoy your time and nature. The GMVN in Auli is also very good. have a great time ahead.........
thanks for the replies guys...seems to pull towards auli although i dont get what will i do for 5 days there...can someone suggest whether dharamshala will have better places to visit as i read auli is more of secluded..is there any chance of seeing snow not snowfall but snow on the ground in any of those places..auli has ski place but i am not sure if there will be snow
in which month are you touring ?

Now now now I am sure you dont want our suggestions
- Jokes apart you can spend 5 day easily some great views and I am sure happy memories. All this depends which moth you are going. Auli in my mind is great for winters as views and skies are clear but is a bit boring in summerQUOTE=mneekhrey;1484369]whether dharamshala will have better places to visit as i read auli is more of secluded..[/QUOTE]
Dharamshala is certainly more touristy - but if must go to dharamshala try HPTDCs Kashmir House - great place to stay IMHO.
