Night stay at Delhi.

17th October, Sunday
Day-10: Delhi-Bangalore,
If possible 1/2 day to Akshey Temp & metro ride,
After noon flight to bangalore (Rs. 4000) !

Suggestions required for:
1) Is it possible to catch 6:45am train from New delhi to Haridwar after reaching Nizamuddin at 5:50am.
If not possible we are planning to catch 11:30am train, in that situation where to stay in delhi for just for 1/2 day Or complete one day delhi city tour today & catch 23:30pm late night train.

2) Take taxi (tempo traveller) from GMVNL tourism for 6 days Uttaranchal trip from Haridwar to Nainital & send back the car from Nainital (Take night train from Kathgodam to delhi). Is it ok to take tempo traveller from Gharwal Tourism (We can book it from bangalore office itself)

3) Suggest the decent accomodations for our family trip,
Haridwar - GMVN's Rahi Motel Rs.1200;
Mussoorie - ......within Rs. 1500;
Badrinar - GMVN Devlok Rs.1350;
Josimath - .......around Rs. 1000;
Nainital - .......within Rs. 1500; near Nainital Lake;
(if not possible to reach nainital from josimath-Auli then stay at Kausani)
Delhi - GingerHotel(Rs.1000)/HotelSouthern(Rs.2200)/Woodlan Delux(Rs.800) ..... etc.

4) For Delhi-Jaipur-Agra (2D/1N),
Take southerntravelsindia package tour (Rs. 2500/person) or similar type package or by rental Car (price ??).
By tempo traveler how much it will cost Golden triangle tour (2D/1N) and suggest good tour operator for package or car rental. ercommend for any Good travel agent for this Golden trinagle trip (including Delhi)

5) Please recommend any changes if required. Already we have dropped KEDARNATH temple & trying to cover Mussoorie, Nainital & Jaipur. (Reason Children may not enjoy Kedarnath temple by 14 km trekking & also 2 full days required)

My budget for full trip is around Rs.25000 to Rs 30000 per person

with thanks

If you travel with 9 person many of the airways will give you a good deal and escpecially if you book now for your october trip. I got a good deal with jet airways from bangalore-delhi-jammu for 4200/= one way.
i will post my views later on your iterenary.

Murli,you will need more planning.What I can suggest is that for golden triangle you should hire a tempo traveller fro delhi & do it via agra to jaipur that way you will be able to cover fatehpur sikri also.Give me some more time to plan your trip.Also you must not drop kedar as it is one of the finest shrines you will ever see & it is said that prior to going to Badrinath one must first visit kedar.Avoid going to mansa devi temple in haridwar.Iwill send you more about your trip after getting cost of tempo traveler rates in jaipur.regards.

To answer your questions(1)you can not catch train from N'din to N'Delhi in 1 hour time.(2)Yes take tempo traveller of Gmvn or take one Innova& one small car price would be similar.Innova wiill cost approx.Rs12/km Approx. in the hill region but in the plains it will be Rs.8.5 or so if fuel prices do not go up.(3)Where ever possible stck to Gmvn acomodations but if you want to try you can book with'Wing,s G.House'at BHoopat wala,Haridwar,it is small but decent & may cost around rs.750/-a room.Delhi you can try Jaipur Inn near moolchand opposite LAJPAT NAGAR market,cost 1000/- a room.(4)fOR JAIPUR/AGRA you should hire a car from jaipur & leave at delhi.Total trip may be RS.8500/-FOR TWO Indigo cars but you save in time & cost of travel from bus station to hotel etc.ican help organise jaipur agra delhi & since I have also been to Kedar/Badri you can seek my advise if needed.Please do not hesitate to contact me.Also by arriving first at jaipur you will save time of travel from delhi & since the road work is in progress you might loose time in road jam.

tough tour plan

Day-2: Haridwar-Rishikesh-Mussoorie,
Manasa Devi & chandini Devi Temple visit,
Laxman & Ram Jula, Triveni Sangam,
Kempty falls, Gun hill top, Night Stay Mussoorie.
10thOctober, Sunday

Day-3: Mussoorie-Badrinath (or Josimath),
Start morning at 7:00am, drive through Danualty and reach Josimath before 4:30 Gate schedule to badrinath,
Night stay at GMVN Devlok Rs.1350 "

IT IS VERY TOUGH TO COVER ALL THOSE SPOT IN A SINGLE DAY (i.e. ON DAY 2)

hi muralim,
sorry for delayed post,
These are some of my suggestion which i would like to make:
1.I would advise you to book bangalore-delhi-bangalore return journey air tickets thru indigo. They were quoting 5700/= per person for return ticket in their web site and if you travel with more than 9 passengers you might get a discount of 20 % on the fare which might come to roughly 4600/=. The train journey will cost you 4100/=
Give a serious taught about it.
2. The gmvnl's rahi motel at haridwar is one of the worst hotels run by them please do not stay here.

Quote:
Day-2: Haridwar-Rishikesh-Mussoorie,
Manasa Devi & chandini Devi Temple visit,
Laxman & Ram Jula, Triveni Sangam,
Kempty falls, Gun hill top, Night Stay Mussoorie.

3.It takes atleast half a day for you to visit manasa devi and chandi devi temple,then travel to rishikesh(24 kms) to see ram jula and laxman jula. You need one full day to visit all these places. If i am not wrong triveni sangam is in allahabad.
Mussorrie is 75 kms from rishikesh and it will be impossible to visit all these places and then travel to mussoorie on 8/10/10
Day-3: Mussoorie-Badrinath (or Josimath),
Start morning at 7:00am, drive through Danualty and reach Josimath before 4:30 Gate schedule to badrinath,
Night stay at GMVN Devlok Rs.1350
4.It takes 7-8 hours of journey to travel to joshimath.
I would advice you to visit auli and stay their.
Never book the huts accomodation at auli
11th October, Monday
Day-4: Badrinath-Auli-Josimath,
Badrinath Templ, Mana Village, Vasudara falls (if time available),
Visit by cable car to Auli, Night stay at Josimath
5. If possible try to catch the 9 am gate to badrinath and reach badri around 11.30 am, check in at your hotel, visit mana village and never miss to drink tea @ bharat ka aakhri chai dukhan, vyas guha, river saraswati and vasundara falls and later visit the temple in the evening.
I have never travelled to kumoan region and i cannot help on this.
Their are a lot travel packages to golden triangle in 2 days.
Plese post your views on this.

Thanks Vasudeosingh, atish2010 and n kumar

1) First time two families are traveling to Delhi, So we 3 families decided to experience Rajdhani & Flight travel (we preferred to pay Rs.800 more & use Kingfisher Service). Vasudeosingh, on 08th & 15th Oct Friday, Taj Mahal in Agra is closed for tourist. Since two Fridays are coming between our travel dates 7-17 Oct, Jaipur reaching or leaving by flight is not giving much time & difference. Since Delhi is the central connection city for Bangalore - Uttarkand - Jaipur & Agra, We are touching Delhi three time. If possible we will work out for jaipur & Agra by Tempo Traveller. Our friends are recommending to use either Train-Sadhabti or Bus tour package. (Yes travelling both way by flight we will get one day additionally. N Kumar's reply for Bangalore-Delhi-Bangalore return journey air tickets really good option, but till now our plan started both journey by train and ended now for 1 side train & other side by flight One main reason is one child is around 3 to 31/2 years old, for him train ticket not required w/o berth but in flight ticket is additional Rs.5700 for return ticket.)

2) We decided to stay in Delhi on 8th & do city tour and catch the night train to Haridwar (or Nainital) then take taxi to Badrinath & reach Nainital (or Haridwar) for Delhi evening / night train.

3) Definitely we will rework the day-2 orginal plan between Haridwar-Rishikesh-Mussoorie. I hope as per our modified plan (leave Delhi by night train to Uttarakand) we will have more time (two full days) to cover these places. In particular my family don't want to miss Manasa temple in Haridwar, because our daughter's name is MANASHINI. In Rishikesh it may be Triveni Ghat (not triveni sangam), a confluence of three holy important Rivers the Ganges, the Yamuna and the Saraswathy. How good is the Robber's Cave & Lachhiwala in Dehradun?

4) Stay in gmvnl's rahi motel at haridwar decided based on internet search & review!, If not recommended then i will consider other options.

5) I will stay previous night in Joshimath before Badrinath (Is it possible to cover Auli before sunset 5:00pm by Rope-way cable car!). Then next day i will stay in Badrinath (one night we want to stay in Badrinath) then next morning start to Nainital (or Mussoorie 350km travel !). Sure we will try to drink tea @ bharat ka aakhri chai dukhan as per N kumar's suggestion! Presently i have selected following hotels in Joshimath: 1) Hotel Kamet Rs.1000; 2) Hotel snowcrest.co.in Rs.1200; 3) Hotel Dronagiri Rs.1200; 4) Jyothir Tourist Complex Rs.700.

6) First we planned to book train & flight tickets next week, so remaining itineraries i have time and will rework according to suggestions

7) Our initial plan started with Kedarnath (2days 14 plus 14 kms trek) without Jaipur & Nainital. Now we are not considering Kedarnath after adding Jaipur & Nainital. Also we are missing valley of flowers & Corbett national park in Uttaranchal!

8) I am planning to start from Nainital - Badrinath and reach Mussoorie - Haridwar, catch evening Train - shatabdi to reach delhi late night, so that Jaipur Agra package trip will be worked out better! Otherwise from Haridwar-Badrinath-Nainital reach Delhi 15th Oct Friday morning will be very tough for Jaipur, Agra 2 days trip!

My alternative Plans:
Bangalore-Delhi by Rajdhani Train;
Delhi City Tour- night train to Nainital (or Haridwar)
Nainital (1D/2N)-Auli-Josimath (1N)-Badrinath (1D/1/N)-Mussoorie (1N/1D)-Haridwar (1N/1D)
Hariwar-Delhi by evening Train;
Delhi to Jaipur (1D/1N) -Agra (1D) -Delhi (1N) by car or package;
Delhi-Bangalore by Kingfisher Flight;

To adjust train time from Delhi, I am doing Delhi city tour on 1st day & to adjust Jaipur-Agra trip, I planned for Nainital-Badrinath-Hariwar so that 14th Oct night we will reach delhi. Other-way Haridwar-Badrinath-Nainital, we can reach Delhi at 5:00am on 15th Friday by night train journey , then we will have very less time for Jaipur-Agra. (Note Agra-Jaipur is not possible for us because of 15th Oct Friday Taj Mahal is Closed!)

Good,keep updating your itiniery & stick to Gmvn hotels in U'khand they are good but you will miss one of the best shrines in india or any where.Triveni sangam is in prayag(Allahabad)& not in rishikesh.At mana(Badri vishal) you can see saraswati river merging in alaknanda & they say it only comes out at prayag.Keep a v.close track of your timings as it is hectic.Have a good trip & post for further help if required.

Hi muralim,
Very good, you have done your home well as friday being a holiday for visitor's to taj.
Here are some of my suggestion :
1)I taught you could save some time by travelling in flight and a savings of 5700/= is quite a good money.
2)You will be spending 2 nights in the train and if you travel to haridwar on the 8th you might spend the 3rd night in the train again. Please make note of this. I feel you should take a early flight to delhi, visit delhi and then take a night train to haridwar on 6/10/2010.
3)I feel you have to replan your mussoorie trip. Triveni ghat is in rishikesh but it is not the triveni sangam.
4)I stayed at rahi motel haridwar and it was the worst hotel owned by gmvnl and Anand of gmvnl bangalore gave me the same opinion.
5)Mussoorie to joshimath is roughly 280 kms and it will definately take around 7 hours and inbetween you have beautifull places like rudraprayag and devprayag worth visiting. You should leave mussoorie very early so that you can reach joshimath by 3 pm and immedeatly travel to auli but i feel with children you will be tired.
6)Just think about the para 1 and then book you tickets.
7)I have never visited nainital so i cannot comment on it and kadernath is lovely place enjoyable by both religeous people and nature lover. The right season to visit vallley of flower is in august and it may not be worth visiting during october.
8) You can leave delhi in morning visit jaipur, stay at jaipur overnight and then visit agra and if possible you can take the karnataka express train from agra itself.
These are some of my reccommendations and feel free to post your comments on this.
with regards

Hi, Vasudeosingh and n kumar

1) Sure We will keep very close track of our tour timing! In badrinath decided to stay in GMVN's Devlok Rs.1400, in mussoorie gmvn's price is more than Rs.1600.
2) As for return flight tickets, IndiGo is not giving offer on 17th Oct, so onward flight only offer Rs.800 is available in our schedule. So total is coming around Rs.6450 (Rs.5700+Rs.800). We tried different online site to know flight ticket offers. Yatra giving Rs.250 offer, IRCTC 10% cash back, cleartrip & Indigo giving offer for particular flights & dates, SBI credit card gives offer from base fare upto Rs.350 (or 25%, which is minimum). Makemytrip giving offer in different way. So it is working out that we will get offer Rs.100 to Rs.350 per ticket. For bulk booking (6+4), we could not find anybody giving cash return offer!
3) Yes 1st day again train travel immediately, So going by flight will give us more time! We will think about it. Yes Karnataka exp will come to Agra on 16th Oct saturday at 12:05hrs mid night and reach Bangalore on 18th Oct Monday at 13:00 if train is not late. So children are not possible to go to school on that day! Then Friday 15th night we have to catch train from Agra (Taj Mahal closed today, so today 1 day is not enough to see Agra)
4) Now I have to make Haridwar(1/2Day)-Rishikesh(1/2day)
-Mussoorie(1/2day)-Auli(2hrs)-Badrinath(1day)-Nainital(1day) breakup very correctly. Badrinath-Nainital and Badrinath-Mussoorie will be long travel time (9hrs). If required, we will rework the Mussoorie schedule by reducing one full day Delhi trip and will try to see what ever possible on last day before 17:20hrs flight. Other trip members have to agree for this!

hi muraliam,
Try to contact indigo or jet airways directly thru phone i am sure you will get a better offer with jet or indigo. I got 4250/- from jet to bangalore-delhi-jammu on way by booking 2 months in advance.]
Gmvnl at badri is good choice.
The other alternatiave........ visit agra on thursday and then travel to jaipur and catch a train from their.
mussoorie is place which is out of the way and if you skip this place your whole journey will be comfortable. As mussoorie, nainital etc false under the hill station group, you can give a taught about it. This is my personal opinion.
