As per Delhiwala, the road via Khankra is also 55-60 km, so which one is recommended? Is the road via Khankra more scenic? I read that this road is a kachchha one, will it then be suitable to take the road in this season? Is there any bus from Pauri to Joshimath?
Do we get shared zeeps at Srinagar also?
A lot of questions
not been to rudraprayag from khirsu, so cant say much about it. but delhiwala will give more light on it... help delhiwala

I took the road long time back and it was kachha at that time but motorable. The route is beautiful and with very scanty traffic but the dust proved some dampener. I made it a point to have no vehicle in front of me so to avoid the dust. My memory cannot be banked upon but I remember driving more than 80 kms to rudraprayag.

AnanyaBinayak,

Not travelled on this stretch lately. Road via Srinagar is better, but you wanted to avoid Sringar, hence I advised Kahnkara route.

Thanks Delhiwala and Jitu! I will prefer to go through the scenic road than the one via Srinagar as it is a congested one. However, I think we can decided on which road to take after taking inputs from the locals in Khirsu.

If I've to travel via Srinagar, then we can leave the Delhi cab at Srinagar itself and then take shred zeeps from there.

I will be staying in Khirsu(GMVN) for the last 3 days in September. We are 8 in our group and will be getting in at Khirsu from Hardwar via Devprayag. Will shared/Hired cars be there just to drop in Khirsu from Devprayag? Are hired or shared vehicle availble from Khirsu to get back to Rishikesh/ Hardwar?

Go to Srinagar from where you will get shared taxis to Khirsu. And since you are eight in numbers, you don’t need to spend time looking for hired taxis, just ask anybody at the stand and he will take you. From Khirsu you may need to again come to srinagar to catch a taxi to rishikesh as they don’t do long journeys.

I thought that we would get Taxis from Devprayag to Khirsu,as others have suggested in a different thread, but your post has worried me a little. From Devprayag cant we expect to get a direct taxi via Srinagar, since we are eight?

Ok,relax... You can get taxis from devprayag too and you don’t need to worry about taxis in any case because you are eight people. I said about srinagar because it is a highway till there and the ease of finding a taxi to khirsu from srinagar is better. You move on, will not face any problems from either devprayag or Srinagar.

Perfect plan..easy going, as it should be. But remember that two days in khirsu means you are a relaxing kind, as it is a secluded place without any hustle and bustle of big towns.

Yaahh.. you are absolutely right...We ARE a relaxing Kind and wanna be absolutely free from all the hustle bustle of everyday's life here in Kolkata. But I wonder how far will it be, because all the rooms are already booked and I guess many a traveller is from Kolkata itself gathering there in Khirsu in that time. , making a second home of them!!!

No. That road connects to khankra about 14 kms before Rudrapryag. This seems to be quite an old map.
