Overnight stay at tents in deoriatal

Hello All,

I plan to visit the Grahwal Himalayas in this month-end. I'd be travelling to Deoriatal around 28-29th sept and plan to stay there overnight in tents.

I'd like to know about the options to procure the tent accommodation in deoriatal. Please let me know if anyone has any suitable contact persons to recommend.

Thanks,
Anirban.

Hi friends,

as suggested by kausiks in this forum, I contacted lakhpat singh for tent accommodation in deoriatal..he quoted 500/- per day, for a 2-member tent. Could you please say if this is a reasonable price. I ask this, because i felt it to be a bit exorbitant...howver, i wanted to take expert opinions on this forum.

Also, is the tent accommodation a safe option? I plan to stay there overnight.

Regards,
Anirban

As per my knowledge there is no other option available. It is high but not really that bad. You can carry your own tent but cost and effort involved. To get rid of that Rs 250 per man per day.
I have never stayed there but cant see any reason to find it unsafe.

Anything exclusive is pricey So as long as Lakhpat Singh does not have any competition, he will choose his own price.

This is exactly the price he quoted when I was in Ukhimath last October. Unfortunately, I could not make it to Ddeoria taal because of time constraints..but as discussed by others.. since you dont have any other options, you have to be contended with that!

As per my knowledge there is an another option I think.During season time there is a temporary settlement just beside the Taal, they provide food supply to traveler.I think they can arrange some sort of night stay with minimum facilities. If anyone manage the difficulties, they are blessed with next morning spectacular sunrise on Choukhamba.

TEMPORARY LODGING AT DEORIA TAAL:-
RACHPAL SINGH & RAJENDRA BHATT SINGH : ( MEAL CHARGE : 35/-, COLD DRINKS: 20/-, MIN. WATER : 20/-,TEA: 5/-, EGG: 5/- )[Charges are not updated one]

SORRY SIR, THERE IS NOT ANY TYPE OF GOVT.TYPE FACILITY(GMVN) IN THAT PARTICULAR AREA ie. BESIDE DEORIA TAAL.

AND AS FAR AS OF THE KMVN CONCERN IT OPERATE ONLY IN KUMAYUN REGION.

IN MY OPINION, IT IS NOT A GOOD IDEA TO CARRY THE WHOLE CAMPING EQUIPMENTS TO DEORIA TAAL TO STAY FOR A NIGHT.
