Need help for Badrinath and Gangotri tour on Nov 2012

Hi All,
We are planning for a tour of Badrinath and Gangotri on early Nov, before Diwali. We are 5 members and four of them are aged around 55-65. So, no trekking will be possible and we would have required a cab like Tavera for the entire trip. We will reach Haridwar on 3/4 Nov and then we have to cover two places before Diwali. Please help me to prepare the itinerary. We do not want a hectic journey instead we would like enjoy the nature to the fullest. Please help for the following:
1. Stay at Haridwar or Rishikesh? Though my mother would love to stay at Haridwar.
2. First Gantotri or Badrinath? We would start our return journey from Dehradun. I think Gangotri is nearest from Dehradun!
3. How many days required to cover Badrinath and Gangotri? Where to stay in between those two places?
4. What will be the rate for car like Tavera or so? We are 5 people. Is it per day basis?
5. If we want to cover Mussouri, then how many days will be required?
6. What the other places can be covered or we should visit?

Hi Subrajith,As you will be hiring a cab you can stay at Haridwar as your mother wants. The distance from haridwar to Badrinath is aroud 320 kms.and to Gangotri around 250-60. So if you start early morning you can reach Badrinath in the early evening witout speeding up. Same with Gangotri also. No trekking to both these places as the road goes upto both these place. There will not be much of a rush as the season will be over.Nights will be cold so keep woollens.
First -you can chose. Overnight stay at both these places will be possible and you can go to the temples in the morning also.
At gangotri there is a temple of Gangadevi-less than 500 mts.down from the road head.
If you want to stay in between these places, on the way to Badri you can stay at Joshimat and on the way to Gangotri stay at Uttarkashi. You have to get permit from U.Kashi to visit Gangotri. There will be more responses; wait and see.

To get more help I suggest you prepare a rough itineary and then ask people to comment. From your post I am not sure how many days you have at hand. As for the speicific. I would say that you should stay at Haridwar if it is first time for your ,mother as it has it own charm. From Haridwar you can go to joshimath in one day and next day you can go to Badrinath. Third day you can leave badrinath and move to Uttarkashi. Day 4 go to Gangotri and return and stay at Dharali or Harshil. Day 5 reach Mussorie and spend 2 days there

This writer also went to these two places just before Diwali and she has written in quite a detailed and helpful manner. do go through the posts at length and plan your trip. It will certainly be very useful for you. Do read it like a novel, the posts are backwards.

there are many hotels from starless to 5 star.........dont worry.......as you are going in November no need to worry to find out rooms fit to your budget.........why not GMVN there?

Thank you for your comments. Can you please suggest which part of my itinerary needs to be repaired. I also understand that it might not be possible to cover all the places I mentioned. We would like to visit Haridwar first and then Gangotri and Badrinath mainly and if possible would like to add Chakrata/Dhanaulti. If not then suggest any other place. Please suggest an itinerary. In our group there will be 5 members including me and all other 4 members are around 55-60. Please suggest an itinerary...
