Just completed the long 17 days tour from Kumaun.
Pls include Jageswar if possible. You will find fabulous temple over there. I will suggest stay at KMVN except Patal Bhubaneswar though KMVN is bit costly IMO.

Hi asmit007,

Im writing the key points about my travel as Im not very good at writing things . We were 4 people from Kolkata. First we have gone to Lucknow by flight and stayed one day. We had the plan to see Bara Imambara/vulvulaiya etc. but no luck as those were closed due to Maharam. We have seen Lucknow Zoo and Lucknow chikon market. That day evening we had train(Lucknow-Kathgodam Express) at 9:55 PM. Train reached at Kathgodam station on next day morning at right time(8 AM).

Day 1 - We have moved to Mukhteswar directly. It was approx. 70 KM. We reserved a Scorpio for our entire 15 days journey. Stayed at Pathik resort. Seen sunset at evening at Sunset point. it is a walking distance.

Day 2 - Next day we have seen Chauli ki Jali and Mukheswar Mahadev temple along with some other temples. We have done one round of night safari in Mukhteswar Jungle but no luck !

Day 3 - We have gone to Binsar forest via Almora. It was approx. 80 KM. We have seen Almora Zoo/Kasar Devi temple/Golu Devta temple/Nanda Devi temple etc. on the way. Entry fee in the forest per person is Rs. 150/- and for our Scorpio it was Rs. 250/-. We have seen Binsar Mahadev Temple in the forest.

Day 4 - We stayed at Binsar KMVN as it is the only hotel inside the forest. There was no power inside Binsar KMVN for the whole day except evening 6 to 9 PM. They provide you hot water in buckets at morning. We have walked to Zero point which is a high point in the forest from where you can see mountain peaks. Zero point is a one hour walking path.Mountain peaks were also visible from Binsar KMVN. At the evening we have gone to Sunset point and seen Sunset.

Day 5 - We left Binsar and proceed for Jageswar. Distance is approx. 55 KM. On the way we have seen Vridh Jageswar temple. Before reaching Jageswar, we have also seen Dandeswar temple. We stayted at KMVN at Jageswar. We have seen Jageswar temple (more than 100 temples are there in the compound)/Kuber temple/Museum etc.

Day 6 - Next day we left for Patal Bhubaneswar. Distance is approx. 100 KM. We stayed at Parbati Resort. The cave at Patal Bhubaneswar is amazing.

Day 7 - Next day we left for Munsiyari. Distance was approx. 130 KM. The scenic beauty of this road is awesome. On the way we have seen Mirthi falls and lots of unnamed falls. Munsiyari is close to peaks so you can get a clear view of mountain peaks.

Day 8 - We stayed at Hotel Bilju Inn at Munsiyari. Lots of places to visit at Munsiyari like Kalamuni top(on the way to Munsiyari entry)/tribal museum/darkot/nanda devi temple/saras market etc.

Day 9 - Next day we left for Choukori. Distance is approx. 100 KM. On the way to Choukori from Munsiyari, we have seen Birthi falls. We stayed at Choukori KMVN.

Day 10 - Stay at Choukori and enjoy natural beauty.

Day 11 - Moved to Kausani via Bageswar and Baijnath. Distance is approx. 90 KM. Gomti and Sarju river sangam is there at Bageswar along with numerous temples. Stay at Hotel Himalaya Mount View. We have seen sunset from Tea Garden at Kasani. Few Shawl shops are also available at Kausani. We have seen Gandhiji's Anasakti Ashram.

Day 12 - Move to Sattal via Ranikhet. Distance is approx. 130 KM. Nothing much to see at Ranikhet except few temples and one golf course.

Day 13 - Stayed at Sattal KMVN. Seen all tals in and around of Nainital like Bhimtal/Garur Tal/Naukuchia tal etc.

Day 14 - Move to Nainital and stay at Sukhatal KMVN. Seen Naina Devi temple/Kilbury/Pangot etc.

Then next day morning came down to Kathgodam station and catch the Kathgodam-Lucknow express. Stayed at Lucknow that night. Next day morning flight to Kolkata.

Feel free to ask further.

@ Suman.
I have heard the name of Ananda Goswami from others in IM.
What had you paid towards per day for Scorpio rent (all inclusive). What should be the rent for Maruti Swift D'Sire.

Can anyone provide the details about the booking KMVN for Kaushani-Chakauri-Munsiyari-Binsar. I mean to say that when the online booking is open. Is it like Indian Railways (120 days before at 8 AM) ?

Awaiting reply.

Regards.

Asmit007, you may also consider including Sitlakhet in your itinerary; I personally don't think its worth spending too much time around Bhimtal/Sattal/Naukuchiyatal/Nainital. Depending on when you are visiting Sattal, Nainital and Naukuchiyatal during the day are teeming with tourists resulting in a lot of hullabaloo... nothing much to do in Bhimtal as well unless you are interested in paragliding (near bhimtal / naukuchiyatal)
