Sounds quite good to me. When are you going - October? It should not be too crowded then, but its better to book your KMVN rooms beforehand.

I am planning to book bank holiday homes at Haridwar and Nainital. For other place I would be looking for budget hotel within 1000/- per day. Can you please provide me few hotel names for Ranikhet/Kaousani/ Almora within my budget.

Thanks again for your input.

Hi Abhik,

You can book KMVN TRHs for other places. Its website is
http://www.kmvn.gov.in/Default.aspx

Your planning seems manageable. All the best.

Day 5. After breakfast leave for Ranikhet. Sightseeing in Ranikhet and night stay at Ranikhet.
In my opinion after the Ranikhet siteseeing, do night stay at Kausani.

Day 6. After breakfast full day excursion to Kausani & Almora. Night stay at Almora/Kausani.
Stay at Binsar.

Day 7 Local siteseeing in morning if any. Around 5pm move to Kathgodam, to catch train for Haridwar at 19:40.
On this day you may visit Binsar Sanctuary and Jageshwar, a hidden gem of Kumaon.

I hope you mean Chandi Devi. I don't remember ant Chamunda Devi temple in Haridwar. Both places are served by a rope way, you can buy a combo ticket and save money and queuing time.

Can't be done (well actually can be done, but no fun)

Rishikesh is not enroute Mussorie, if you decide to go to Rishikesh first than it'll take 1 hour from Haridwar to Rishikesh, then 2 Hours from Rishikesh to Mussorie, then from Mussorie to Haridwar it will be 3 Hrs. journey.

These are travel time only. If you spend 2 hours in Rishikesh and 3 hours in Mussorie, it will be 11 Hrs. day, and you'll neither enjoy Rishikesh nor Mussorie in this time.

IMO, you need to change the plan do only one.

Agree with Delhiwala about the Haridwar Rishikesh Mussoorie Haridwar bit - not worth it. Either do Rishikesh and enjoy it or do Mussoorie and spend time there. Can't expect to do both on the same day. You could do a very early morning trip to Rishikesh on the day you are leaving. That is day 10. Leave for Rishikesh from Haridwar around 6.00 go to Rishikesh spend time there till 9.30 return back to Haridwar and catch your train at 12.05

That's good ! just one more point.

On day 9 visit Mussorie, start early and reach there by 11 AM, stay there till 7 PM and then come to Rishikesh instead of Haridwar. Next day get up early around 6 AM and visit Laxman Jhula. This way you can catch a glimpse of Rishikesh too.

Plesae ensure that you leave Rishikesh by 10 AM directly for Haridwar Railway Station.

If you can't maintain this strict discipline you may go as per your plan.

Abhik we are also going for kumaun tour in the October. If you start on wednesday or sunday then you can think of Akal Takht express which will reach you bareilly at 05.00 a.m. next day from where Nainital is only 140 km. Thus you can save one day.

What are the mode & cost of transport available from bareilly to nainital ? I guess it would take atleast 4 hrs. And also the train timing at Sealdah is too early for me. As per my itinery I can spend a day at Delhi and do some local sightseeing.

Anyway thanks buddy for your suggestion.
