Is it ok to travel alone to Lansdowne? I can do the 3 day holiday with friends (which is planned for June) to some other place then.

Even a weekend will be good then if I take a train from Delhi, isn't it?
I have done it in car and train as well, but I like the train...

Book the 3 AC for Friday night, only Rs.350, sleep through the night, you reach Kotdwara at 6 AM, take the Jeep and around 8 AM you are at Lansdowne.

On Sunday the last jeep leaves for Kotdwara at around 5:30 Pm, make sure you get on that it would reach Kotdwara at around 8 pm, you have to spend couple of hours at the station to catch the 10 pm train back..

The lake is a 10 minute walk from Fairy Dale..just get out of the gate and take a left...

Tiffin top on the other hand is about 30 minutes...uphill...on your way there or back try and check out the museum..very quaint.

Exactly my point, its just incidental, nothing special about it...more of a Picnic Spot..

Lansdowne anyday. Also becos it's quicker to get to.
There will be car-loads of tourists though, being the summer hols. Better to book from Delhi.

The food at Fairydale is awesome...
Hmm, only if they have a new cook wud I believe that. When I went it was ok. Not bad, ok.

Yeah, no safety issues as such. I doubt you intend to walk around in the dark anyway.
Depending on when you want to leave and what suits your schedule, if you want to take a day-train and don't mind an early start you can take the Garhwal Express from Old Delhi - dep 6.55, arr 14.20 (return ride is dep KTW 15.00, arr DLI 21.55) . You'll be in Lansdowne by 3.30 pm.

For the same reason they visit the 'Dal Lake' (what an original name ) in Dhasa. That's an ordinary lake if I ever saw one, even if bigger.
Agree with puchoo, you don't go to Lansdowne for the lake. You go for the p&q, and if it's clear the spectacular views from TT. But once there, the lake is ok to visit. Nothing spectacular; even then I found it a bit better than the one in Dhasa.
